The Boston Celtics look to hand the Charlotte Bobcats there 12 th straight loss when the two collide from TD Garden tonight.
The Celtics continue to pile up the wins as they notched their fourth straight with a dominate 98-80 win over the visiting Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday. Led by a scoring surge from Paul Peirce and a renewed defence, the Celtics suddenly look like the team we are all accustomed to watching as they have now won eight of their past nine to sit 13-10 overall. Peirce, who is only nine points behind Larry Bird for second in the club’s all time scoring list, is averaging 23.4 points per game over his last nine, which was up from 14.6 from his first 11 games.
The injury ravaged Bobcats on the other hand are heading in the opposite direction as they dropped their 11 th straight contest with a 95-89 defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Suns on Sunday to drop to 1-13 on the road. After losing to Los Angeles and Portland by a combined 77 points, Charlotte put forth a much better effort against Phoenix and they actually led by double digits early in the third quarter, before eventually falling in the end.
Head to head, the Bobcats are 15-6 ATS in the last 21 meetings and 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Boston, the underdog is 16-5 ATS in the last 21 meetings. The Celtics are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as a home favorite of 11.0 or greater and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Bobcats on the other hand are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 vs. NBA Atlantic, but just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
With the Celtics renewed defence, combined with the Bobcats league worst offense, the under has to be the play here doesn’t it? Boston has improved on the offense end since the middle of January, but they have only topped 98 points just once. Charlotte on the other hand is just a train wreck on offense as they have only scored over 89 points just once in the last 10 games. Take the under here....
