Philadelphia 76ers Vs. Utah Jazz 3/9/12
Dan’s Free NBA Basketball Pick Against the Spread
Having just lost back to back tough fought games against Chicago and Milwaukee, the 76ers took their frustrations out on visiting Bostons Celtics on Wednesday night, running away with a comfortable 103-71 victory to improve to 23-17 overall. The Jazz on the other hand have won two straight and four of five overall to climb back to .500 on the season.
Led by a strong performance from second year forward Derrick Favours, the Jazz came from behind to beat the 76ers 102-99 in their first meeting of the season in Utah. Favors scored a season high 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Utah outscored Philly 31-26 in the fourth quarter to secure the come from behind win. Jure Holiday led the 76ers with 22 points, while Lou Williams added 20 of his own off the bench.
Head to head, the Jazz are 15-5-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings and 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings in Philadelphia, while the home team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings. The 76ers are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 games as a favorite of 5.0-10.5 and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games as a home favourite, but just 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Jazz on the other hand are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a road underdog of 5.0-10.5 and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
The Jazz have won eight of the past nine meetings between these two teams and four of their last five on the season, so they’re not without a strong chance here. Having said that, I still like Philly tonight. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about the Jazz ability to control this game down low, however the 76ers are still a dominate home team against .500 or sub .500 teams, which is exactly what the Jazz are…
