The Los Angeles Lakers look to make it two on the trot as they host the Sacramento Kings from Staples Center

The Los Angeles Lakers look to make it two on the trot as they host the Sacramento Kings from Staples Center.

Head to head, the Kings are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Los Angeles, while the road team is 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings. The Lakers are just 1-8 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400, 7-16-1 ATS in their last 24 home games and 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Kings on the other hand are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 vs. Western Conference and 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall.

To say the Los Angeles Lakers have had an interesting start to the season would be an understatement. Big things were expected in Laker land this season after the offseason acquisitions of Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, however things haven’t exactly gone to plan after a 2-4 start, which has subsequently seen the firing of head coach Mike Brown just recently. There are rumours going around that Phil Jackson may return and the job is there if he indeed wants it.

After a poor start to the season, the Sacramento Kings had a chance to get to .500 when they hosted the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night. The Kings started well enough but then cooled off as they shot a season low 35% in a 97-86 loss to complete their three game home stand. Sacramento is still having a hard time putting the ball in the basketball, averaging just 91.7 points and 16 assist per game, which both rank in the bottom third in the league.

For whatever reason, the Kings have always played the Lakers tough and have actually won three of the last five overall, which doesn’t include twice this preseason as well. It didn’t really surprise me that the Los Angeles handled Golden State like they did because teams almost always play great the game after their coach gets fired, it’s just how it works. Sacramento has covered in six of the last seven at Staples Center and I like them do make that seven of eight tonight...
