Phoenix Suns Vs. Toronto Raptors
3/6/13 Dan’s Free NBA Basketball Pick Against the Spread
The Phoenix Suns look for their fourth straight when they play host to the slumping Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.
Head to head, the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Suns are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games playing on 3 or more days rest, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games. The Raptors on the other hand are 14-4 ATS in their last 18 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
It’s been a struggle for the Phoenix Suns all season long, but they have finally have something to cheer about as they come into tonight’s match riding their second three-game winning streak of the season. What’s more impressive, their last two victories have come against playoff teams in San Antonio and Atlanta. Despite being a 16.5 underdog in San Antonio, the Suns managed to claw their way back to force overtime, where they would eventually prevail 105-101, snapping the Spurs 18-game home winning streak. Against the Hawks, it was their bench that propelled them to victory as four players scored in double figures, led by Marcus Morris who has 16 points as the Suns held on for a 92-87 victory.
The Toronto Raptors come into tonight’s showdown on a streak of their own as they dropped their sixth straight in Golden State on Monday night, falling 125-118 as the Warriors scored a whopping 42 points in the final quarter to run away with the win. The Raptors had been playing such good basketball after acquiring Rudy Gay from Memphis before the trade deadline, however, they can’t seem to get over the hump this past week and a bit.
There’s no doubting the Suns are currently playing the better basketball out of the two, however, I just think the Raptors are due for a win here. After five straight losses and coming up short in Milwaukee and Golden State, I just don’t seem them dropping their sixth straight to a poor Phoenix team, plain and simple….
