San Antonio Spurs Vs. Boston Celtics 12/15/12 Peter’s Free NBA Basketball Pick Against the Spread
With three wins in their last four games, the Celtics were looking to be in a good patch of form before losing to the Rockets by 101-89 last night. After pouring in 34 points in the previous game, Paul Pierce could only manage 18 points in a tired looking performance, while Rajon Rondo added 15 points and 13 assists in the loss. Boston are now 12-10 on the season, but just 4-6 on the road so far.
Meanwhile, the Spurs had won 10 of 11 and five straight before losing two straight against the Jazz and the Trailblazers in their last two outings. On Thursday at Portland, Tony Parker had a team-high 21 points, but just didn't get the support we're used to seeing from the Spurs team. On the bright side, the Spurs return home to face the Celtics tonight where they are 7-2 so far.
Head to head, the Spurs are still 21-18 at home against the Celtics, but the Celtics have won in San Antonio in the last five meetings.
In ATS trends, the Celtics are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in San Antonio and the road team is 9-1-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall.
The Spurs will be eager to get back to winning ways in front of their home crowd, but I really think the Celtics have a shot at an upset here. Given all the trends and the current form of the Spurs, I'm more than happy to take the visitors with the points in this meeting.
