Boston Celtics Vs. Philadelphia 76ers
12/8/12 Peter’s Free NBA Basketball Pick Against the Spread
Rajon Rondo compiled a triple-double of 16 points, 13 rebounds and 14 assists against the Sixers last night, but he would trade it all for a do-over of his potential game winning shot that he flopped in the final moments of the 95-94 overtime loss. Kevin Garnett had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Paul Pierce had 27 and Jeff Green had 19 points off the bench, which could put major pressure on Jason Terry's starting position job as he made just one of his 12 attempts to finish with four points.
On the other hand, Evan Turner had one of his best games ever, racking up 26 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, including the go-ahead basket in the last seconds of the game. Thaddeus Young also added 17 points and 12 rebounds and Jrue Holiday added 15 points before fouling out of the game, but probably the most encouraging statistic was the Sixers grabbed 10 more offensive boards than the Celtics which really helped them throughout the game.
Head to head, Philadelphia has won five of the last seven regular-season meetings after dropping 12 of the previous 14.
Last night's thriller could have easily gone either way, but while the Celtics were executing their offense more fluently in crunch time, the Sixers still managed to find a way to win in front of their home crowd. Tonight's meeting is sure to be just as close, but while I think the C's should pull this one out, I can't back a team who has lost their last three games on the second night of back to back sets. I'm taking the Sixers with the points in this one.
