Orlando Magic Vs. Sacramento Kings
2/27/13 Peter’s Free NBA Basketball Pick Against the Spread
The Sacramento Kings look to snap a six-game skid tonight when they pay a visit to the Orlando Magic.
There hasn't been much for the Kings to cheer about lately, but they have plenty to be proud of after they pushed the Heat to the brink in a 141-129 double overtime loss last night. DeMarcus Cousins had a nice game of 24 points, 15 rebounds and five assists, while Tyreke Evans added 26 points but the Kings would have lost big in regulation if it weren't for Marcus Thornton who hit eight threes on his way to 36 points off the bench. On the defensive end, John Salmons did reasonably well in unenviable task of guarding LeBron James, but in the end the Heat just proved too strong. With the loss, Sacramento dropped to 19-39 on the season and 5-26 on the road where they've lost nine straight.
Meanwhile, the Magic were good enough to avoid a sixth straight loss last night when they beat the 76ers by 98-84 on the road. Arron Afflalo and Tobias Harris led the team with 16 points each, while Nikola Vucevic added 12 points and 19 rebounds, but the real positive for the Magic was the play of E'Twaun Moore who had 12 points and 10 assists in his third game filling in for the injured Jameer Nelson. With the win, Orlando improved to 16-41 on the season and 7-21 on the road where they had lost 10 straight before their win last night.
In ATS trends, the Kings are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games following a double digit loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four games against teams with losing records, while the Magic are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a double digit win and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
Head to head, the Kings won the first meeting between these teams this season and in ATS trends the favorite is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
The Kings looked like a completely different team against the Heat last night and came so close to pulling off the big upset. However, they still made those unforced turnovers and should be a little tired coming into tonight's game against the Magic. Given the form of these teams, you can forgive me for not putting any money on this game at all, but if I had to pick a team to back, I'd go with the Kings who will be eager to wash away the taste of last night's defeat.
