Orlando Magic Vs. San Antonio Spurs
11/28/12 Steve’s Free NBA Basketball Pick Against the Spread
The San Antonio Spurs head to Orlando on Wednesday to face off against the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center.
The Orlando Magic are currently 5-8 on the year and are five games back of the Heat in the Southeast standings. The Magic are putting up some nice defensive numbers this season, ranking eight in the league with an average of just 95.2 points per game allowed. Offensively the Magic are really struggling this season however, as Orlando is scoring just over 91.7 points per game. The Magic are one of the better rebounding teams in the league, grabbing 32 boards per game defensively, and 10 offensive rebounds per outing. The Magic also do a nice job of keeping their opponents from getting open looks as the opposition is shooting just 47 percent from the floor against Orlando this season. The Magic will be tested inside on Wednesday as the Spurs are one of the bets in the league at getting points from the paint. Orlando will need to shore up defensively inside, and force the Spurs to shoot from the perimeter where their percentage is lower, and then be aggressive on the boards to limit second chance shots for San Antonio.
The Spurs come into Wednesday’s match-up with the Magic with a record of 12-3 on the season, and the Spurs are just .5 game back of the Grizzlies in the Southwest standings. The Spurs have one of the best offensive units in the league, scoring better than 102 points per game, and the Spurs are also solid on the other end of the floor, giving up just 95.5 points per outing. The Spurs as I mentioned above are one of the best teams in the league at scoring points in the paint, and look for San Antonio to continue that trend on Wednesday. If San Antonio is able to control things inside against the Magic, this one shouldn't be close as Orlando just doesn’t have the offense to keep up with the Spurs if San Antonio is being efficient offensively.
The Orlando Magic are 2-2 in their last four outings heading into Wednesday, and the Magic are 6-6-1 against the spread this season and Orlando is 3-4 against the spread at home. The Spurs have won four in a row heading into their match-up with eh Magic, and San Antonio is 9-5-1 against the spread this season with an away record of 6-3 against the number.
This game is personally a no-play for me. I like the Magic on their home court, but the Spurs are playing excellent ball right now. I'm going to take the points at home here with the Magic as I love taking a solid defensive team at home, especially when I am getting some points.
