TV:

We’re off and running with Week 5 in the NFL, and last night’s game provided a fitting beginning to the fresh set of games coming our way. Now there’s the matter of another two-day lull before we can get our football fixes again, so in the meantime we’ll have to occupy ourselves by checking in on some of the noteworthy storylines around the league. Here’s the latest.

Browns-Bills Notes: What an odd game this one was. Both starting quarterbacks--the Browns’ Brian Hoyer and the Bills’ E.J. Manuel--went down with sprained knees, but overall it was a heavy offensive performance in a 37-24 Browns victory.
Josh Gordon (86 yards, one TD) and Greg Little (71 yards) were the heroes in the receiving game, while Willis McGahee racked up 72 yards and a score on the ground.
The Bills’ C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson combined for three touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough after the team lost their starting QB.
We’ll have to wait on the official MRI results to be able to determine what’s next, but word is that the Browns are fearing the worst (torn ACL) with Hoyer.

Packers Injury Concerns: We’ve got a couple of injury updates for you concerning Green Bay this morning, and both are positive. First, RB Eddie Lacy was able to practice yesterday, which was his second straight day participating with the team. He’s coming off a concussion that caused him to miss the Packers’ last game during Week 3.
Also of concern this week--and also nursing a concussion--is TE Jermichael Finley. He was able to participate in his second day of practice yesterday, which bodes very well for his availability during the big Week 5 divisional matchup against the Lions.

Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, Indianapolis Colts: It’s a good thing Indianapolis brought in Trent Richardson. Things aren’t looking too good for Bradshaw, who is currently in Arizona seeking medical opinion on his ailing neck. The veteran RB suffered the injury during Week 3, when he posted 95 rush yards and a score against the 49ers.
There had been some hope that Bradshaw’s condition could be overcome with rest and treatment, but the prevailing notion continues to be that he’ll need season-ending surgery to correct the injury. We’ll know more when we find out what the doctors say, but it’s looking like the Colts are once again down a runner.

Darren Sproles, RB, New Orleans Saints: One matchup we’re sure to be watching on Sunday is the Saints’ electric RB Darren Sproles (who is a fantasy favorite of ours) against the opportunistic Bears defense. He’s coming off a big game against the Dolphins in which he scored a pair of touchdowns alongside 152 total yards.
Chicago faced a similar player last week in the Lions’ Reggie Bush, who ended up having more of an impact on the ground (139 yards and a score). The Bears did a good job of limiting his pass-catching abilities (34 yards), which happens to be Sproles’ greatest asset. It will be interesting to see how the battle plays out.

Week 5 Remaining Schedule: Let’s take a look forward to the remaining games on the Week 5 schedule. There are plenty of good-looking matchups headed our way in the coming days, so be sure to clear your afternoon. Here’s the remaining list and where you can catch the games.
