The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles face off on Sunday in Tampa Bay in a NFL week 6 match up.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the bigger disappointments in the NFL and they hit week 6 without a win. The Bucs are averaging a 31st ranked 11 points and 374 yards per game. Mike Glennon is now the starter at QB and he has completed 55.8 percent of his passes with a touchdown and two interceptions. Doug Martin is averaging 3.4 yards per carry and he has a touchdown taking more than just the bulk of the action in the backfield. Vincent Jackson leads the Buccaneers with 17 receptions and Mike Williams has 15 catches. The Bucs defense allows just 17.5 points per game and 332.2 yards with six interceptions, 13 sacks, and five fumble recoveries. Mark Barron has 30 tackles, Lavonte David has 29 tackles, and Dashon Goldson and Mason Foster have 28 tackles each. The Bucs defense keeps them close but the offense is going to make it tough to get wins.
USA TODAY Sports
The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-3 for the season but that is good enough for first place in the NFC East. The Eagles offense is averaging 27 points per game and a NFL second best 454.8 yards per game. QB Michael Vick is questionable for this one and he is completing 53.8 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and two interceptions while being sacked 14 times and he has rushed for 307 yards and two touchdowns. LeSean McCoy is averaging 5.2 yards per carry with three touchdowns and he has 13 catches and Bryce Brown is averaging 2.7 yards per carry. DeSean Jackson has 28 catches and three touchdowns, Jason Avant has 15 catches, and Brent Celek has 10 catches and two touchdowns. As good as the Eagles offense has been the defense has been as bad ranking 31st in both points allowed per game at 31.8 and yards allowed per game at 434 per game with five interceptions, 11 sacks, and four fumbles. DeMeco Ryans leads the Philly defense with 39 tackles, Mychal Kendricks has 35 tackles, and Nate Allen has 34 tackles. If the Eagles defense can catch up to the offense they are going to be tough to beat.
Tampa Bay is 6-1 against the spread following a bye week, 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games, and 0-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Philadelphia is 4-9-1 against the spread against the NFC, 2-6 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 1-5 against the spread following a win. The underdog has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
The total here is set slightly to the low side as Philly will move the ball and the Bucs should be able to move it on the soft Eagles defense so the over is my free pick. I also have play on who will cover the spread and I will post that pick in the Premium Area.
