TV:

Now that “Thursday Night Football” has finished up, Week 8 in the NFL is officially here. We’ve been hearing plenty of interesting storylines from around the league this week, which should make for an entertaining afternoon on Sunday. With that in mind, let’s check in on some of the noteworthy players out there and see what everyone’s up to. Here’s the latest.

Panthers-Buccaneers Notes: The Panthers just kept on rolling on “Thursday Night Football,” posting a dominant 31-13 victory over the Buccaneers. Carolina QB Cam Newton was the statistical star of the show, with two passing touchdowns, a rush TD and a team-high 50 yards on the ground. Touchdowns from Greg Olsen, DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert highlighted the action.
Tampa Bay, meanwhile, had all sorts of issues without star RB Doug Martin in the lineup. The team managed only 48 yards on the ground.
The win brings the Panthers to 4-3, while the Buccaneers share the distinction of being one of the two remaining winless teams in the NFL.

Niners in London: Speaking of winless teams, the San Francisco 49ers will be heading all the way to London this weekend for the honor of playing one. They’ll take on the Jaguars at Wembley Stadium, which is technically a home game for Jacksonville.
Key in this game will be San Francisco RB Frank Gore, who is fighting off an ankle issue this week. If he can get healthy--and by most indications he shouldn’t have much trouble doing so--he will be a potent weapon against the Jaguars’ porous rush defense. Gore has been putting up some great statistical performances recently. Just last week, he rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns, then added 32 more on two receptions. Expect the Niners to go to him early and often in London.

Notable Injuries: There are plenty of injury issues around the league as we head into Week 8, and a lot for fans to keep up with. Let’s check in on a few of the noteworthy names and see how they did at practice yesterday. Maybe we’ll get a clearer picture of how things look heading into the weekend.

Golden Tate, WR, Seattle Seahawks: Did not practice yesterday (shoulder). For the record, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is optimistic he’ll be ready for Monday against the Rams.
James Starks, RB, Green Bay Packers: Starks (knee) looks like he’s on track to take the field against the Vikings. He’s put in two days of full practices so far.
Miles Austin, WR, Dallas Cowboys: Limited in both Wednesday’s and yesterday’s practice (hamstring). Austin will probably get a questionable designation and is pretty much a coin-flip at this point.
Fred Jackson, RB, Buffalo Bills: Out Wednesday’s practice, limited yesterday (knee). Things are looking up for this weekend against the Saints. Buffalo will need Jackson, as his fellow RB C.J. Spiller is also injured (he’s been out of both practice sessions thus far).

NFL Week 8 Schedule: Week 8 has begun, and we’ll have another two-day turnaround before we can get our football fix once again. Fortunately, there are plenty of good matchups to look forward to on the weekend schedule. Here’s a look at the full schedule, as well as the times and TV networks carrying the games.
