The Miami Dolphins started the season red hot but they have cooled off losing three in a row including last Sunday’s loss at home to Buffalo. The Dolphins offense is averaging 22.5 points and 312.7 yards per game and are minus 1 in turnover ratio. Ryan Tannehill has completed 60.7 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions while being sacked 26 times. Lamar Miller is the top option in the Dolphins running game averaging 4.3 yards per carry and Daniel Thomas is averaging 3.4 yards per carry. Brian Hartline is Miami’s leading receiver with 31 receptions, Brandon Gibson has 29 receptions, and Mike Wallace has 27. The Dolphins defense allows 23.3 points and 372.2 yards per game with seven interceptions, 17 sacks, and six fumble recoveries. Phillip Wheeler is Miami’s leading tackler with 43 followed by Reshad Jones with 41 and Dannell Ellerbee with 40. Miami is at a pivotal point of their season and it can go either way at this point.
New England is 8-3 against the spread following a loss, 1-4 against the spread against the AFC East, and 6-2 against the spread following a game they didn’t cover the point spread. Miami is 12-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 2-5 against the spread following a loss, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games.
While New England is the better team this is a rivalry and that sets up for a close game and in this case taking the touchdown and Miami is the play.
