There is a reason why so many people love watching the NFL and why so many people find themselves pulling their hair out on Sunday's as the game is just so unpredictable. The Dolphins, Patriots, and Broncos may have played spolier for some while the Packers, Colts, and Falcons propelled Survivor goers into another exciting week of action. Here is our preview of Week 8:

San Francisco 49ers at Jacksonville Jaguars
If it isn’t the most obvious pick on the board I would like to know which is a better option than taking San Francisco against the Jaguars. I understand that this game is in Jacksonville (which doesn’t really matter) and it is a West coast team coming East to play in a 1:00 o clock game but this is such a mismatch on paper and on the field no matter how you look at it. Chad Henne has been able to put up decent numbers in garbage time but this is a totally separate circumstance as they get the San Francisco defense here who has turned things up in the past couple of weeks. Colin Kaepernick will give the Jags’ defense fits with his ability to move outside the pocket and I expect a huge game from Frank Gore. Justin Blackmon is a great talent but without a solid option at QB and a non-existent running game I can see them shutting him and rest of the Jags offense down. I’m not sure the Niners can cover be you can be sure they’ll come away victorious.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Cleveland Browns
While it has taken me seven weeks and seven straight victories, I am finally buying into the Kansas City Chiefs and I really like them in this spot against the Browns. Kansas City has been the league’s stingiest defense all season and that is a nightmare for Browns quarterback Jason Campbell who is getting his first crack and solving the anemia behind centre. Jamaal Charles is going to run all over the Browns defense and with the Arrowhead crowd playing a factor as well I can see the Browns being forced into a number of turnovers as communication is bound to fail. I really like the Chiefs to not only win this game at home and stay undefeated but I don’t think it’ll even be close as Eric Berry will key in on Josh Gordon and give the Chiefs a spark on defense. Take Kansas City here and move on.
Buffalo Bills at New Orleans Saints
This was a game that I had circled originally as a top play and I still think the Saints could very well blow the Bills out of the water and win this one comfortably by double digits but there is something about this Bills team that has me nervous. While the Saints are playing at home, are coming off a bye week, and sustained a tough loss in their last game against the Patriots the Bills are coming off a confidence boosting win over the Dolphins and have been in every single contest this year with many of them coming down to the final play. That is not to say that New Orleans will completely shred the Bills apart I am just saying there are better options on the board in case the Bills decide to run wild with Fred Jackson who is bound to have a great game on the ground for the Bills. I don’t blame you for taking New Orleans but will offer an err of caution.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Oakland Raiders
I have no idea how or why the Pittsburgh Steelers are favoured to beat anybody at the moment let alone by a field goal on the road. Oakland was pegged to be a doormat this season but under the guidance of Terrelle Pryor they have played a lot better than anyone expected plus they’re coming off a bye and are in the Black Hole. The Steelers have been playing a lot better and Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell bring a nice dimension to the offense but there is no reason to believe that the Steelers can win this game comfortably and certainly not enough to risk in a survivor pool. I have the Raiders winning this game outright so I strongly recommend NOT taking Pittsburgh this week even if you’re a diehard Steelers fan.
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles
This could be in violation of survivor pool etiquette number one but I am siding with a team playing in a pivotal divisional matchup. The Giants got into the win column last week on Monday night against the Vikings and the Eagles are coming off an atrocious outing against the Cowboys but I really think Philly makes a statement here much like they did against the Redskins in their season opener. Michael Vick returns behind centre and with him, Lesean McCoy, and Desean Jackson firing on all cylinders I think it’ll be impossible for the Giants defense to contain them and too much ground for Eli and the Giants to make up. While this isn’t the best play on the board it is definitely a solid wager if you have used a lot of top end options and find yourself in trouble with the bye week.
Good luck in your pools. See you next week.
