Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons Pick-Odds-Prediction - 11/3/13Mark's Free NFL Football Pick Against the Spread
Carolina shoots for win number four in a row against banged up Atlanta.
The Atlanta Falcons head to Bank of America Stadium to face the surging Carolina Panthers.
Coming in to the 2013 campaign Atlanta looked like the team to beat in the NFC South on paper. That might have been how it looked on paper but unfortunately the games are played on the field and even more unfortunate is the growing list of injuries the Falcons have sustained. The NFL is a very unforgiving league in that winning is incredibly difficult with a full compliment of players and almost impossible when a multitude of starters are out. No Julio Jones or Roddy White obviously hurt Atlanta in a 27-13 loss at Arizona but 27 rushing yards and four interceptions from Matt Ryan didn't help. Ryan threw for 301 yards with Harry Douglas grabbing 12 balls for 121 yards but miscues and over 200 rushing yards for the Cardinals was a deadly combination for the Falcons.
Carolina might finally realize the potential the fan base has bestowed on them and quarterback Cam Newton or suddenly fall off the map and we won't know which until we see this team play in the coming weeks. Right now the Panthers are on every bodies radar after winning three in a row and four of five. The nay sayers are quick to point out they have beaten nobody of consequence but that's what good teams are supposed to do to inferior competition. That's exactly what Carolina did in a 31-13 victory over struggling Tampa Bay on the road as a 14-6 lead at the half grew to 21-6 by the third quarter in what turned out to be the Cam Newton show. Newton ran for a game high 50 yards on eleven carries and threw for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns with nine players recording receptions. The defense smothered the Bucs running game and forced Mike Glennon to the air 51 times where he threw for 275 yards but couldn't consistently hurt the visitors defense.
Carolina is facing a banged up Atlanta and need this to keep New Orleans from pulling away. I wouldn't lay the points but the way the Panthers have been scoring I might take a crack at the over...
