TV:

Now that the Redskins and Vikings have gotten the NFL’s Week 10 festivities started, we can look forward to the weekend ahead. There are some enticing matchups scheduled for this particular round of games, but in the meantime we’ve got plenty to talk about when it comes to injury situations and noteworthy players. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at some of the storylines out there. Here’s the latest.

Redskins-Vikings Notes: This game didn’t hold much interest for people who weren’t fans of either team, but it actually turned out to be an entertaining game to watch. After being thoroughly dominated during the first half by the Redskins, the Vikings stormed back in the third quarter and took a 34-27 lead they’d hold to the end. They were helped out by some errant penalties and timely three-and-outs from Washington, as they couldn’t recapture the offensive strength they had in the first half.
Adrian Peterson anchored the Vikings’ attack once again, totaling 75 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. Minnesota moves to 2-7 on the year and saves a little face in the record department.
Meanwhile, the Redskins fall to 3-6, and even with the ugly mess that is the NFC East, they’ll have to go on a determined run at the end of the year if they want to make the playoffs.

NFL News: Player News and Updates for 11/8/13

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Clay Matthews, LB, Green Bay Packers: Good news for the Packers--and they’re in desperate need of some. Matthews was able to practice yesterday, and the expectation is that he’ll be available for Week 10 at home against the Eagles. He’s been out for the past four games with a thumb injury.
If Matthews is able to return to the field, we wouldn’t imagine he’ll get a full load of work. The expectation is that he’ll be limited as he works himself back into the regular groove.

Mike Goodson, RB, New York Jets: The strange saga of the Jets’ Goodson got another chapter yesterday, as he was indicted on weapons charges. He’s been on injured reserve since the middle of last month (due to a torn ACL and MCL) and was only able to play in two games this year, resulting in seven carries for 61 yards and two receptions for 19 more.
Time will tell what this will do to Goodson’s NFL future, but his 2013 is most certainly finished.

Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland Raiders: McFadden missed out on another day of practice yesterday, which further clouds his availability for Sunday’s game against the Giants. He’s been battling a hamstring injury over the past several days, sustained in the team’s embarrassing loss to the Eagles in Week 9. McFadden finished with five rushes for 12 yards and one reception for three yards.
If he ends up being out--which is looking like the case--he’ll be replaced by Rashad Jennings, who is a capable backup. Jennings stepped right in against the Eagles and posted 102 yards and a TD on 15 carries, with seven receptions for 74 more yards.

NFL Week 10 Schedule: Week 10 is off and running, and it’s already starting out pretty well. Looking ahead to the weekend, there are only four teams on byes this week, so it’ll be a slightly heavier round of games as compared to the last couple. Here’s a look at the full slate, as well as the start times and TV networks carrying the games.
