The Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts face off on Thursday Night in Nashville in a NFL battle of AFC South teams coming off of bad losses.
The Tennessee Titans appeared to be putting it together this season but all of that seemed to come to a screeching halt last Sunday as they fell to the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. While any team in the NFL can beat any other, the loss was particularly disturbing as the Titans were just never really in it. With QB Jake Locker out for the season the Titans turn to Ryan Fitzpatrick who has completed 56.8 percent of his passes this season with four touchdowns and four interceptions but he has had a less than stellar career in the NFL thus far. Chris Johnson has shown signs of his old self in spurts but he is averaging just 3.6 yards per carry and has 23 catches with three combined touchdowns. Kendall Wright appears to be a star in the making at receiver with 50 catches while Nate Washington and Delanie Walker each have 29 catches but look for Justin Hunter to have an increasing role. Defensively the Titans allow 21.8 points and 326.2 yards per game with 25 sacks and a plus four turnover ratio. Bernard Pollard has 59 tackles, Jurrell Casey has 7.0 sacks, and Alterraun Verner has five interceptions. Tennessee will need to put last week’s loss in the rear view mirror, as they are very much alive in the playoff race in the AFC.

The Indianapolis Colts have to wonder what happened last week as they were roasted and embarrassed at home by the St. Louis Rams in a game they just had no answers. The Colts offense was ineffective in the trenches and defensively they were simply outrun o the perimeter. Andrew Luck has been sacked 22 times this season while completing 58.8 percent of his passes for 2,198 yards with 14 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Colts running attack is anemic with Trent Richardson averaging just 2.5 yards per carry and scoring two touchdowns. With Reggie Wayne on the I-R T.Y. Hilton is the Colts leading receiver with 41 catches and five touchdowns and Coby Fleener has 29 catches. Defensively the Colts allow 21.4 points and 367.8 yards per game and they are plus three in turnover ratio. Jerrell Freeman has 75 tackles, Robert Mathis has 13.5 sacks, and Vontae Davis has some serious soul searching to do after last week’s pitiful effort. The blueprint on how to roast the Colts is out and now they must make adjustments in the secondary.
Tennessee is 5-0 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover the spread, 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five home games, and 2-8-1 against the spread against the AFC South. Indianapolis is 10-1 against the spread following a loss, 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games, and 9-2 against the spread against a team with a losing record. The home team has covered the point spread in five of the last seven meetings of these two.
The total is set at 42 and that just seems too low as both of these defenses struggled a week ago so my free pick is on the over. I also have a play on who will cover the spread and I will post my ATS Pick in the Premium Area as well as on the Sports Chat Place App.
