The Line: New Orleans Saints -3 -- Over/Under: 47.5 See the Latest Odds
The New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers face off on Sunday in the Big Easy in a NFL battle of playoff hopefuls.
The New Orleans Saints have it all clicking these days and even with the Carolina Panthers on their heels they are in control in the NFC South. The Saints offense has been outstanding averaging 29.4 points and 422.7 yards per game and they are plus five in turnover ratio. Drew Brees is cementing his legacy completing 68 percent of his passes for 3.064 yards with 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Saints are mixing it up in the ground attack with Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram, and Darren Sproles all getting carries with Thomas catching 46 passes and Sproles catching 44. Jimmy Graham has 54 catches and 10 touchdowns and Marques Colston has 34 catches. The Saints defense is much improved allowing 18.1 points and 317.6 yards. Curtis Lofton has 71 tackles, Cameron Jordan has six sacks, and Kenny Vaccaro has 45 tackles. The Saints are looking like contenders to win it all.

The San Francisco 49ers haven’t been perfect this year but their physical style and toughness means they are likely going to be a factor as the season winds down. The 49ers offense is averaging 25.2 points and 321.6 yards per game and they are plus four in turnover ratio. Colin Kaepernick has completed 56.4 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and six interceptions and he has rushed for 310 yards and three touchdowns. Frank Gore leads the Niners ground attack with 700 yards and seven touchdowns. Anquan Boldin has 41 catches and Vernon Davis has 30 catches and seven touchdowns. Defensively San Francisco allows 17.2 points and 316.8 yards per game. NaVorro Bowman has 76 tackles, Ahmad Brooks has 6.5 sacks, and Tramaine Brock has four interceptions. The 49ers trail the Seahawks in the NFC West but they have a home game remaining against them.
New Orleans is 5-1 against the spread against the NFC, 15-7 against the spread following a win, and 21-5 against the spread in their last 26 home games. San Francisco is 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, 5-1 against the spread in their last six games overall, and 7-1 against the spread in their last eight road games against a team with a winning home record.
While both teams have weapons on offense this one goes to the defense and my play is on the under in a playoff style game.
