Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers head to Washington on Monday to face off against Robert Griffin and the Washington Redskins.
The Washington Redskins have been a disappointment to their fans this season as the ‘Skins are just 3-7 on the year. The Redskins started off brutally as Robert Griffin missed the entire preseason rehabbing his injury, thus making the first few games of the season the preseason for him…not good. The Redskins started showing some signs of life, starting with the Dallas game and Robert Griffin started to look more like himself. If you watch him though, you can tell that something is just not there, and whether it’s a physical ailment, or a mental thing, the explosiveness and pop we are used to seeing from RG3 is missing. It’s not all Griffin and the offense though; the Redskins defense hasn’t helped much. Right now Washington is giving up an average of 274 yards per game through the air, while also allowing 115 per game on the ground. Facing a Niners team here that loves to run the ball, the front seven of this defense will be tested for sure on Monday. Washington has dropped three of their last four, with all three losses coming on the road.

The San Francisco 49ers is playing good football, despite the fact that they are fighting for a playoff spot as of now. The Niners are 6-4 on the year, and have dropped their last two outings. Those two losses came against Carolina at home, a game in which the Niners should have won, and if Davis would have been healthy the entire time, more than likely they would have, and then last week to New Orleans on the road (no shame in that one). San Francisco has a championship level defense and should be in every game they play from here on out, if for no other reason than their defense. The offense is in question here. Colin Kaepernick, much like RG3 just doesn’t seem to be himself this season. Kaepernick is missing open receivers, if he even sees them at all. Now, the Niners have been missing Manningham and Crabtree from this offense, and with Crabtree coming back soon (perhaps this week) it will be interesting to see if Colin reverts back to his old form, finally having a receiver he trusts on the outside besides Boldin.
The San Francisco 49ers have been a solid play overall this season, going 7-3 against the number on the year. The Niners are also 6-2 against the spread this season as a favorite.
The Washington Redskins are just 3-7 against the spread, and when listed as an underdog, the ‘Skins are just 1-6 ATS.
I’m going with the Redskins here. The Niners are the better team and should be able to win this one outright, but San Francisco is in a tough spot. This is back to back road games for the Niners, after heading to New Orleans last week and now heading to the East coast.
I expect the Niners to play with their pants on fire here as they will be trying to gain some momentum back after back to back losses, but this is just an ugly number, and giving the Redskins more than a field goal on their home field, on Monday night looks tough.
