The Tennessee Titans are in for a brutal test on Sunday as the Titans head to Denver to face off against the Broncos.
The Denver Broncos are 10-2 on the year, and in many people’s eyes are the favorite to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl this season. The Broncos are coming off of three tough games in a row, two of them road games the past two weekends. The Broncos suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Pats two weeks ago in New England, where the Patriots famously came back on Denver to win in overtime. This past weekend it appeared early on that the Broncos were poised for a letdown as the Chiefs jumped out to an early lead, but the Broncos pulled a New England, and came back in the second half, beating the Chiefs 35-28 at Arrowhead. Peyton Manning is having one of the best seasons in NFL history for a quarterback, and all indications are that he is pretty good at football. Denver is averaging 336.6 yards per game through the air this season, leading the NFL, while the Broncos are also rushing for a very respectable 121.9 yards per game. Denver’s defense has struggled this season, but with this offense all they need to do is get a few key stops and the Broncos will be a tough out for anyone.

The Tennessee Titans are just 5-7 this season, and while not technically out of the playoffs in the AFC…yeah the AFC is that bad, the Titans didn’t do themselves any favors by losing to the Colts this past weekend. Tennessee is just 1-4 overall in their last five games, and struggling to hold on. Jake Locker was really coming into his own it appeared until he went down, and while Fitzpatrick has looked decent at times for the Titans, it is very clear that he is not the long term answer. The defense for the Titans is solid, ranking seventh in the NFL against the pass, but that will be tested this weekend at Mile High for sure. One bright spot for the Titans offense is their running back Chris Johnson, who has really been coming on as of late and is looking like the playmaker of old.
The Titans are 6-4 against the spread this season, while going a very solid 5-1 against the spread on the road.
The Broncos are 7-4 against the spread on the year, and when playing at home, Denver is 4-1 against the number.
I’m taking the over in this spot. The Broncos will be ready to play back on their home turf here, and this is just a bad spot for the Titans. Tennessee comes in after a tough physical game against the Colts last weekend, and now the Titans have to face the Broncos, and their fast paced attack at Mile High.
I would lay the points with Denver here, but with double digits in the NFL, I always fear a late score by the dog.
The overlooks solid as the Titans should be able to put some points up against the Broncos defense, and Peyton and company will no doubt put up their fair share as well. I’m playing this one Sunday as long as the weather cooperates, that is.
