Now that the Chargers and Broncos have finished up in Denver, Week 15 is officially upon us in the NFL. There’s not much regular-season football left to play, but the good news is that we’ll be seeing a lot of meaningful games as the year winds down. With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the players and storylines making news this morning.

Chargers-Broncos Notes: Not too many people outside of San Diego predicted anything quite like this. The Chargers dominated the Broncos for most of last night’s game, posting a 27-20 victory in the year’s final installment of “Thursday Night Football.”
San Diego utilized the run game to keep Peyton Manning off the field and gobble up clock as the game wore on. Thanks to that potent and effective strategy, RB Ryan Mathews tallied 29 carries for 127 yards and a TD. San Diego held the ball for 38:49 in total.
On the other side, it was a wholly flat offensive performance for Manning and company. He managed 289 yards and a pair of TDs, but tossed a late pick that effectively ended any comeback attempts. The quick turnaround between games likely left Denver’s offense tired, and as a result big names like Knowshon Moreno, Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas and Eric Decker were virtually nonexistent.

Raiders RB Situation: The Raiders backfield will likely be a man down this weekend--and possibly the rest of the season. Darren McFadden missed out on practice again yesterday, increasing the probability that he’ll be sidelined once again for the Raiders’ home game against Kansas City. His ankle injury has kept him out for the last four games, and there exists a very real possibility that he’s played his last snap in 2013.
The good news is that Rashad Jennings appears to be on track to suit up after missing last week with a concussion. He’s been practicing, but still needs to finish up with the league’s standard protocols for that type of injury.

Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings: Speaking of injury issues in the backfield, we’ve got one with Peterson, who sat out practice yesterday. That said, his absence was planned, as he’s dealing with a foot injury (reportedly a sprain)
The most telling hint about Peterson’s status for Sunday at home against the Eagles will be whether or not he practices today. If he’s out there--even on a limited basis--it’s a very good sign for his potential availability. If not, he still may play, but things will likely come down to a game-time decision.

NFL Week 15 Schedule: The playoff races have really begun to heat up, so we’ll be seeing a lot of compelling action this weekend. Here’s a look at the remaining Week 15 schedule, along with the start times and TV networks carrying the games.
