The New York Giants and the Seattle Seahawks face off on Sunday in NFL football action.
The New York Giants have had a trying season and their dream of hosting and playing in the Super Bowl is all but gone at this point. The Giants have won five of their last seven games, but their loss last week in San Diego could have been the nail in the coffin. Eli Manning has completed 58.6 percent of his passes with 16 touchdowns and 20 interceptions and he has been sacked 33 times. Andre Brown is back in action and he is averaging 4.3 yards per carry while Peyton Hillis is still being used in some short yardage situations. Victor Cruz has 71 receptions and Hakeem Nicks has 49 catches. Antrel Rolle has 79 tackles to lead the Giants defense, Prince Amukamara has 72 tackles, and Justin Tuck has 8.5 sacks. The Giants offense is averaging 19.3 points and 321.7 yards and the defense is allowing 25.7 points and 337.2 yards per game. The Giants let the season get away from them early when they couldn’t stop turning the ball over and they still have a minus 13 turnover ratio.
The Seattle Seahawks have the best record in the NFC, but they are coming off of their second loss of the season. The Seahawks have played in plenty of close games and in most cases they have been able to pull them out, but they came up just short in San Francisco against the 49ers. Russell Wilson has completed 64.5 percent of his passes for 23 touchdowns and seven interceptions and he has rushed for 458 yards. Marshawn Lynch has been the Seahawks running game with 1,042 yards and 10 touchdowns. Golden Tate has 52 receptions and four touchdowns and Doug Baldwin has 43 receptions and four touchdowns. Earl Thomas and Bobby Wagner each have 89 tackles, K.J. Wright has 80 tackles, and Kam Chancellor has 74. The Seahawks offense is averaging 27.5 and 356.6 yards while defensively they are allowing 15.8 points ad 287.1 yards per game and that is among the best in the NFL this season. The Seahawks also have the best punt coverage team in football.
New York is 5-1 against the spread against the NFC, 1-4 against the spread after allowing 30 or more points their previous game, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games on field turf. Seattle is 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 road games, 20-7 against the spread in their last 27 games overall, and 7-3 against the spread after a loss.
I like Seattle to win here, but it looks to be by around a field goal and with the home team getting a touchdown, it is tough not to take the Giants in this spot.
