NFL Updates: Updated Playoff Picture, Week 16 Schedule and More
December 17, 2013
Week 15 in the NFL has officially reached its conclusion, and we saw plenty of interesting things on the field over the weekend as teams around the league continue to jockey for playoff positioning. Now that the Thursday games are done, we’ve got an unusually long turnaround time before Week 16 begins. There’s still plenty to talk about, though, so with that in mind let’s take a closer look at some of the noteworthy names out there.
Ravens-Lions Notes: The Week 15 installment of “Monday Night Football” was pretty entertaining and came down to the very end, which is really all we can ask for as football fans. The Ravens emerged on top 18-16 on the strength of six field goals from uber-kicker Justin Tucker--including a franchise-record 61-yarder that helped clinch the win in the fourth quarter.
Detroit, meanwhile, suffered a handful of miscues and boneheaded penalties that ultimately cost them the game, including a pair of huge drops from the normally reliable Calvin Johnson and a trio of interceptions by Matthew Stafford. They’re now at the mercy of Chicago and Green Bay when it comes to recapturing the NFC North. Jay Cutler and the Bears moved into the lead in that division after a big Week 15 win over the Browns.
As for the Ravens, they’re in control of their own destiny again, as they retake the final Wild Card spot in the AFC with this key victory.
