Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Pick, Odds, Prediction 12/22/13: Mitch's Free NFL Football Pick Against the Spread
Photo by: Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The Packers and the Steelers face off on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

The Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers face off in week 16 NFL action as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Green Bay Packers are coming off of a monster comeback win in Dallas which not just boosted team morale, it also kept them very much alive in the NFC North. With their final game being in Chicago against the Bears, wins by both teams this week would make next Sunday’s game for the NFC North title. Aaron Rodgers has been practicing but as of last week he still wasn’t ready to play and he is listed as questionable for this one. If Rodgers can’t go it will once again be Matt Flynn. Eddie Lacy has rushed for 1,028 yards and eight touchdowns and that is without him being the starter for the early part of the season. Jordy Nelson has 72 catches with eight touchdowns and James Jones has 44 receptions to lead the Green Bay receivers. A.J. Hawk has 110 tackles, Morgan Burnett has 86 tackles, and Brad Jones has 83 tackles. The Packers offense is averaging 25.2 points and 397.2 yards while defensively they are allowing 25.9 points and 376.3 yards per game. With the Packers chances of making the post season increasing most see it as a greater likelihood of Rodgers playing.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a disappointing year and while they had a far better second half of the season than they did in the first half they look like they will fall short of the playoffs once again. The Steelers have chances to play spoiler to the Packers and they already played spoiler last week in their win over the Bengals. Ben Roethlisberger has completed 64.8 percent of his passes with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while being sacked 40 times. Le’Veon Bell is the Steelers leading rusher with 646 yards but he is clearly a weak link and not a NFL starting running back caliber solution. Antonio Brown has 95 receptions for 1,307 yards and eight touchdowns and Emmanuel Sanders has 63 catches and five touchdowns. Lawrence Timmons has 108 tackles, Ryan Clark has 91 tackles, and Jason Worllds has 7.0 sacks. The Steelers average 22.9 points and 340.4 yards per game while defensively they allow 23.7 points and 338 yards per game. The Steelers are a proud organization and look for them to bring 100 percent to this game.

Green Bay is 4-1 against the spread following a win, 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games, and 0-4 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Pittsburgh is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games, 4-1 against the spread following a win, and 6-13 against the spread in their last 19 road games.

The total is at 44 and with the weatehr looking dismal this should stay under that number and the under is my free pick. I also have a Free Pick on who will cover the spread and it will be featured in the App in the "Mitch's App Attack" video.
