NFL Updates: Sanchez, Dolphins, Off-Season Schedule and More
March 27, 2014
With the NFL owners’ meetings winding down this week, it’s now time to start turning our attention toward the next big event on the off-season schedule, which is the draft. There’s lots of downtime between now and then, so we’ll keep ourselves occupied by checking out the latest news from across the league that continues to trickle in each day. Here’s the latest.
NaVorro Bowman, LB, San Francisco 49ers: Remember back when Bowman injured his knee in a gruesome goal-line play during the NFC Championship game? (Sorry for putting that image back into your head.) Well, we’ve got an update on his rehab this morning. Yesterday, Niners coach Jim Harbaugh reported that he was doing well, so it looks like he remains on track for a comeback.
Bowman tore both his ACL and MCL on the play, and by most indications we should be seeing him around the midpoint of the 2014 season if he sticks with the current timeline. We’ll keep you posted as the season draws closer and more information becomes available.

Knowshon Moreno, RB, Free Agent: Will Moreno be taking his talents to South Beach in 2014? It’s looking that way. A report yesterday said that he was “moving closer” to a deal with Miami, so it seems only a matter of time before he inks the deal.
Moreno visited with the Dolphins last Friday, and since then has stayed in contact. If he does indeed sign with Miami, he’ll immediately become a one-two RB punch alongside Lamar Miller. Now the two sides just have to agree on the financials.
In other Dolphins news, the team is reportedly shopping WR Mike Wallace once again, though there’s not much optimism for a potential trade. He’s set to cost a hefty $15 million just in base salary during 2014.
Zac Stacy, RB, St. Louis Rams: Here’s an interesting tidbit out of St. Louis. Rams coach Jeff Fisher made some comments yesterday regarding Stacy, saying that eventually he would receive 70 percent of the carries out of the backfield.
Stacy showed some signs of brilliance last season as a rookie. He put up 973 yards and seven scores on 250 carries. That number should only inflate in 2014 as he solidifies himself as a top-shelf RB.
Mark Sanchez, QB, Free Agent: It’s looking like the Sanchez signing is chugging along once again, as the Eagles are reportedly trying to get things going quickly as they attempt to sign their new backup QB.
Sanchez will be meeting with the team today, and he’ll be receiving a physical on his once-injured shoulder (a torn right labrum suffered during last season’s preseason). He missed the entire 2013 campaign and ultimately underwent corrective surgery.
