TV:

The NFL has become a league in which the passing game prevails for most teams. Thus, without a strong receiving corps (are you listening, Carolina?), it is tough to put up the points you need to win games. Today, we’re taking a look at the top ten wideouts set to make the most money in 2014. Bear in mind that these guys are ranked according to base salary, bonuses and other incentives notwithstanding.

Top Ten Highest Paid NFL Wide Receivers

USA TODAY Sports

1. The Miami Dolphins are set to pay WR Mike Wallace $15,000,000 during the upcoming season. In  2013, his first year with the ‘Phins, Wallace had 930 yards, 73 receptions, and 5 TDs.

2. WR Percy Harvin, one of the Seattle Seahawks’ secret weapons, opened the second half of Super Bowl XLVIII with a kick-off return for a TD. Harvin was coming off of an injury and still lit up the field during the big game. Seattle will be paying their versatile wideout a cool $11,000,000 in 2014.

3. Tampa Bay WR Vincent Jackson, who will make $10,000,000 in 2014, averaged 15.7 yards per catch for a total of 1,224 yards last year. Worth it? Lovie Smith and his new crew think so.

4. Texans’ wideout Andre Johnson is also on-track to receive a $10,000,000 base salary in 2014. Johnson was one of Houston’s few bright spots last year, racking-up 1,407 yards and 5 TDs.

5. Though the Chicago Bears’ defense struggled mightily in 2013, WR Brandon Marshall was an offensive bright spot with 1,295 yards and 12 TD receptions. Marshall is set to make $9,100,000 during the course of the 2014 season.

6. Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe is worth $8,750,000 to the club during the 2014 season. Bowe clocked in with 57 receptions and 5 TDs in 2013.

7. Pierre Garcon, one of RGIII’s favorite targets, will be paid $7,100,000 by the Washington Redskins next season. With a new regime in-place in DC, it’ll be interesting to see if Jay Gruden and Co. allow Garcon to have another 113 reception, 1,346 yard season.

8. Well-known Saints wideout Marques Colston had low numbers (for him) last year, but still managed 75 catches for 943 yards. Colston will be paid $5,500,000 in 2014.

9. The Atlanta Falcons’ downturn last year affected WR Roddy White as much as anyone. White had 711 yards, which is nearly half of what he had in 2012 and his lowest number in 7 years. Nonetheless, White will make $5,000,000 in 2014…hopefully he’ll be back to standard form by kick-off.

10. Arguably the best WR in the league, Detroit’s Calvin Johnson (more commonly known as Megatron) is set to be paid $5,000,000 in 2014. 12 of Johnson’s 84 receptions were TDs and he amassed a grand total of 1,492 yards during the 2013 season.
