Does Your Favorite NFL Offensive Player Earn a Top Salary?

2014 NFL Off-Season

See the Latest Odds

In keeping with yesterday’s topic, today we’ll break down the top ten highest paid NFL players on the offensive side of the ball. Yes, you’ll see QBs galore, but there are a couple of surprising players peppering this list too.

Top Ten Highest Paid NFL Offensive Players

1. Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler spent much of the 2013 season benched due to injuries. During his time on the gridiron, Cutler threw a somewhat underwhelming 19 TDs and 12 interceptions. Nonetheless, the Bears worked hard to re-sign their main man and are set to pay him a league-high $17,500,000 in 2014.

2. QB Eli Manning, the face (and arm) of the New York Football Giants, had the only season of his career, excepting his rookie year, in which he threw more interceptions than TDs. Try 9 more, in fact. It was a painful season for the club, but hopefully the $15,150,000 Manning is set to earn will get him back on track in 2014. The knowledge that he’s making more than big brother Peyton might be inspirational too…

3. Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning will make just $150,000 less than his little brother in 2014. Elway and Co. are set to pay No. 18 $15,000,000 on the nose. It remains to be seen if the newly stacked Broncos D can help Manning’s always illustrious offense win that elusive Super Bowl. Regardless, though, it’s safe to say that Manning won’t be hurting for pocket change between his salary and all of those endorsement deals. When was the last time you watched a commercial break without him? Can’t remember? Me either.

4. Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace is also slated to earn a cool $15,000,000 in 2014. Wallace averaged nearly 13 yards per catch and racked-up 930 total yards during the 2013 year. Hopefully QB Ryan Tannehill will get sacked fewer times in the upcoming season and he and Wallace can combine for more TDs.

5. St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford got injured in Week 7 of the 2013 season and missed the remainder of the year with a torn ACL. Bradford should (fingers crossed for Rams fans) be back to pre-injury form by kick-off weekend. St. Louis will be paying Bradford $14,015,000 to work some magic in 2014.

6. The San Diego Chargers, led by bigger-than-life QB Philip Rivers, surged at the end of 2013, ultimately securing the final AFC playoff berth. Over the course of the season, Rivers threw 32 TDs, and just 11 interceptions, for a total of 4,478 yards. Rivers will be paid $13,800,000 to keep it up starting in September.

7. Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger will earn $12,100,000 during the 2014 season. In 2013, Big Ben threw twice as many TDs as he did interceptions and finished the year with a 92.0 QB rating. Though the Steelers finished the year 8-8 (a poor record by their standards), Roethlisberger and Co. have the same blank slate as 31 other teams right now.

8. No surprise that Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is on this list. AD, who will make $11,750,000 in 2014, had 279 carries and 10 TDs last year. Peterson is one of the greatest, and most resilient, RBs the game has ever seen, so this salary is well-deserved.

9. Seattle Seahawks WR Percy Harvin is one of my personal favorite players to watch year in and year out. Harvin’s versatility is incredible (can anyone deny how awesome his Super Bowl XLVIII kick-off return was?) The ‘Hawks will keep Harvin on their roster to the tune of $11,000,000 in 2014. After missing almost all of the 2014 season, Harvin should be ready and rarin’ to go when kick-off weekend rolls around.

10. The Cleveland Browns owe their LT Joe Thomas $10,900,000 in 2014. Thomas has spent his entire professional career with the Browns and they aren’t keen to let him go anytime soon. The 6’6, 312 pound offensive lineman brings both size and strength to the squad.
