TV:

We’ve reached the beginning of another week, and there’s sure to be plenty of NFL news headed our way in the coming days. With that in mind, let’s get things started out on the right track by checking out some of the notable headlines out there. Here’s the latest.

Jimmy Graham Latest: Over the next week or so, we’ll be hearing plenty about the Saints’ All-Star tight end Jimmy Graham. He and the team have until July 15 to work out a long-term contract, or else the team will mark him with the franchise designation this year and give him a little over $7 million in salary.
If Graham and the Saints can’t work something out by the deadline, there’s a possibility he could hold out--or even sit out the season entirely--but most sources close to the situation think that the team and Graham’s reps will get something inked by then.
These talks have taken on a new meaning after an arbitrator ruled that Graham could be ruled as a tight end instead of a wide receiver, which marks a $5 million difference in this year’s salary as a franchise player.

USA TODAY Sports

Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland Browns: The worst possible thing has happened to Gordon at the worst possible time. He was arrested for DWI charges in North Carolina yesterday, booked by the Raleigh police at 4:00 a.m.
Gordon is already facing a year-long suspension for his latest violation of the NFL’s substance abuse program, and this latest screw-up could get him kicked out of the league for life. He was set to have an appeal hearing concerning his suspension late this month, but it looks like he couldn’t even keep his nose clean before that one.
What makes the situation even sadder is that Gordon has loads of talent. He finished 2013 as the league leader in receiving yards (1,646) and was named to the Pro Bowl.

Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots: One of the main questions dogging the Patriots this off-season has been the health of their star tight end Rob Gronkowski. He hasn’t managed to stay healthy over the past couple of years, missing 14 games and playing just 18 since 2012.
Gronkowski’s latest health issue is his knee, with a torn ACL/MCL injury suffered in Week 14 of the 2013 campaign.
What’s Gronkowski’s recovery window looking like now? Well, it’s difficult to tell of course, but the latest estimates have him coming back to the field for the regular season opener on September 7. In the meantime, we may see him do a bit of limited work in training camp this month, but the team won’t be pushing him to recover. They’re taking things slowly, which is absolutely the right thing to do when it comes to Gronkowski’s long-term health.

Week 1 Schedule: Now that the schedules have been released, we can start looking forward to the on-field action as we warm up for the 2014 campaign. Here’s a look at the first week of the season, which begins September 4.
