TV:

The NFL training camp sessions will be continuing this weekend, and along with them will come plenty of new information on the upcoming season. Let’s get things started off right by taking our daily look around the league and checking in on some of the hot-topic players and storylines out there right now. Here’s the latest.

Brian Hoyer, QB, Cleveland Browns: Earlier this week, we saw a report that suggested the quarterback battle in Cleveland was pretty close. The team had said that they would be deciding who will be the No. 1 guy right around the third week of the preseason, but now it appears that timeline may be shortened significantly.
According to an unnamed Browns player, just about everyone on the team is expecting Brian Hoyer to get the Week 1 start over rookie Johnny Manziel, despite what the Browns have said publicly.
If the team is behind Hoyer, then we’d imagine the coaching staff is too--at least for now. We’d imagine we’ll see the usual public vote of confidence and official announcement before the planned decision timeline closes.

Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans: Let’s check in on Johnson and the Texans quickly, as that situation has been dominating the headlines for much off the off-season. Despite many indications to the contrary, Johnson ultimately reported to training camp on time yesterday. He even remarked to a local paper that finishing his career in Houston was his “plan.”
There’s been lots of talk about how Johnson was unhappy with his team’s new direction, and how he didn’t want to go through another rebuilding period. The team has stood firmly in this situation, however, saying they wouldn’t trade him.
Whether or not Johnson and the Texans have repaired their relationship--or if it’s just lip service--remains to be seen.

Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys: Let’s close things out by checking in on Romo and seeing what we can expect from him this season.
The 34-year-old QB is coming off his second back surgery in the space of 12 months or so, but sayd he feels healthy. He’s doing 3-4 hours per day doing rehab and strengthening exercises on his back, but says he has no pain. Judging by his remarks, it would seem he’ll be going into the regular season at near 100 percent and should be able to post a solid year statistically.
Romo is in his prime right now, and will likely keep the Cowboys close in the bulk of their games. Whether the defense can keep up or not is another story all together.
