The Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears play a Thursday night preseason game on ESPN at Soldier Field.
The Jaguars won their first preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and hope to build on that in this contest. Rookie quarterback Blake Bortles saw the bulk of the action, completing seven of his 11 pass attempts for 117 yards. Denard Robinson was the player of the game, rushing for 36 yards on seven touches and scoring the game-winning touchdown. You can expect a similar game plan offensively from the Jags and a lot of action from Bortles, as there’s a good chance he becomes the starter if he continues to play well. Defensively, the Jaguars allowed only 249 yards and didn’t allow a touchdown until the fourth quarter. Jacksonville also had Winston Guy return an interception 68 yards for a score. The Jaguars are a young team that will continue to play a lot of guys considering many roster spots are up for grabs.

The Bears scored 17 points in the third quarter to beat the Philadelphia Eagles in their first preseason game. Jay Cutler completed nine of 13 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown, while Jordan Palmer and Jimmy Clausen combined for three touchdown passes. Overall, the Bears finished the game with 399 passing yards and 491 total yards in what was an offensive explosion and a likely preview of what is to come for the Bears. It’s tough to expect similar numbers in this matchup, but you have to like what you saw. Defensively, the Bears gave up 359 yards and 21 points in the second quarter. The Bears are working out a lot of guys on the defensive end in hopes of their numbers improving from a year ago.
I really like the young talent for the Jags and think they'll continue to roll in the preseason. Jacksonville has a point to prove in its first few games, while the Bears just hope to make it through without getting anybody hurt. Give me the Jags and the points.
