The Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Rams will play a Saturday preseason game at the Edward Jones Dome.

The Packers lost their first preseason game to the Tennessee Titans, 20-16. It seems like the majority of the Packers original starters didn’t even play, as Aaron Rodgers didn’t throw a single pass and Eddie Lacy didn’t take the field either. Instead, Scott Tolzien and Matt Flynn handled majority of the playing time at quarterback and helped total 148 passing yards. James Starks ran for a 20-yard touchdown in the first quarter and the Packers finished the game with 294 yards of offense. Defensively, the Packers allowed 267 yards and forced two turnovers. There’s no word if Rodgers and company will play in this game but if so, don’t expect a ton of touches in just the second preseason game.

The Rams lost their preseason game to the New Orleans Saints, 26-24. With no Sam Bradford, the Rams turned to Austin Davis, Shaun Hill and Garrett Gilbert, a quarterback trio that threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns. The Rams also seemed to find a promising running back in Tre Mason, who carried the rock 15 times for 51 yards. The Rams offense was clicking throughout the game, scoring a touchdown in three of the four quarters and producing 388 total yards. With or without Bradford, the Rams offense should have a lot of confidence heading into this matchup. Defensively, the Rams allowed 375 yards and three total touchdowns in the second and third quarter. The Rams also didn’t come away with a sack, which was kind of odd.

I liked the way the Rams played because they have a lot of young guys fighting for roster spots. The Packers are kin of going through the motions and just waiting for the regular season to get here.

Give me the Rams at home for the small chalk.
