The Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals clash in preseason game #2 at TCF Bank Stadium.
There were some impressive performances in the opening week of preseason action and the Cardinals 32-0 rout of the Texans might have been the best. Arizona got the job done on both sides of the ball as they won the battle for total yardage 407-172. The Cards did not run the ball well but made up for that through the air with Drew Stanton tossing for 152 yards and six while Logan Thomas passed for another 111 yards and a touchdown. A dozen players caught passes while the defense recorded a pair of interceptions and held Houston to only nine first downs and 18 minutes of possession with a 23 yard play being the largest allowed.

The Vikings picked up a 10-6 victory over visiting Oakland to kick off the season on a positive note in what proved to be somewhat typical of most preseason games where points are somewhat difficult to come by. The Raiders outgained the Vikings 268-236 with the home team making ten first quarter points stand up. Matt Cassel led the passing game with 65 yards with Cordarrelle Patterson leading the receiving corps with three catches for 38 yards. The defense obviously led the way by keeping the big gains to a minimum while the O never found firm footing with six sacks and little room to run on the ground.
It seemed that Arizona was in midseason form in their opener while Minnesota tried to do a little of everything but met with limited success. Based on the openers I would lean Cardinals until I see a line and perhaps see if there are injuries and lineup moves...
