The Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins play a Monday night preseason game at FedEx Field.
The Cleveland Browns lost their first preseason game to the Detroit Lions, 13-12. The Browns, who are in the middle of a quarterback controversy, watched Brian Hoyer complete six of 14 passes for 92 yards, while Johnny Manziel completed seven of 11 passes for 63 yards. Neither quarterback threw for a touchdown, as the Cleveland Browns settled for a field goal in each of the four quarters. The Browns were 0-1 in the red zone and turned the ball over twice, which included a Ben Tate fumble. Overall, Cleveland managed 282 yards of total offense and the coaching staff can’t help but expect more in this matchup. Defensively, the Browns allowed 296 yards and a touchdown in the final minutes to lose the game. Several players including Zac Diles led the Browns with four tackles, while Barkevious Mingo picked up the team’s only sack.

The Washington Redskins creamed the New England Patriots, 23-6, without Tom Brady. The Redskins scored the first 23 points of the game, as Kirk Cousins led the way with nine completions on 13 pass attempts for 103 yards and a touchdown. Robert Griffin III saw limited action, completing two of four passes for nine yards. Lache Seastrunk was the offensive player of the game for the Washington Redskins, pounding out 63 yards on 12 touches. Ted Bolser and Aldrick Robinson had Washington’s two touchdowns. Overall, the Redskins finished the contest with 387 yards and were 2-6 in the red zone. Defensively, the Redskins allowed 270 yards and a touchdown in the final minutes to remove the shutout. Bashaud Breeland led the Washington Redskins with seven tackles, while Brian Orakpo picked up the team’s lone sack.
With the Cleveland Browns expecting to make a quarterback decision after this game, Hoyer and Manziel should play majority of the matchup. I like the Browns quarterback depth and competition over what the Redskins have.
Take the Browns and the point.
