Current Odds To Win the 2015 Super Bowl: 5-1 See the Latest Odds

2013 Recap: The Denver Broncos 13-3 record was the best in the AFC and they ended up cruising to the Super Bowl. While a matchup against the Seattle Seahawks was pretty much over before it started, the Broncos still reached their first Super Bowl since 1998 and have one of the better teams in the league. The Broncos shattered offensive records with the best passing game in the NFL, and they showed promise defensively with a rush defense that ranked eighth. The Broncos have made three straight playoff appearances, a first since 2003-05.

Key Losses: After 10 years with the franchise, the Broncos released future HOF cornerback Champ Bailey. Despite being on the downside of his career, Bailey has 52 career interceptions and 812 tackles. The Broncos defense also lost Shaun Phillips, a defensive end who had 10 sacks last season. The Broncos offense was also hurt with the losses of running back Knowshon Moreno and wide receiver Erick Decker. Moreno led the Broncos in rushing yards last season and Decker was a 1,000-yard receiver.

Key Additions: After losing so much, the Broncos had to make a splash and they did just that by signing linebacker DeMarcus Ware. While some would question how much Ware has left in the tank, he does have 117 sacks in nine years and six sacks in 13 games last season. The Broncos offense received Emmanuel Sanders, who had more than 2,000 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in four years with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Draft: I really like the Broncos first two draft picks in cornerback Bradley Roby and wide receiver Cody Latimer. Roby is an athletic freak who has a promising future in the NFL, while Latimer is a sure handed receiver who will truly help Manning out in the passing game. These two players could contribute right away and held the Broncos make another big time run.

2014 Outlook, So Far: As we saw last season, the Broncos are a legit Super Bowl contender as long as Manning is playing at an elite level. It’s tough to stop the Broncos with all of the weapons they have and with their HOF quarterback firing on all cylinders. The Broncos defense should also improve with a healthy Von Miller and Ware added to the mix. While the Broncos didn’t handle the Seahawks defense well at all, they are one of the few teams in the league that you can guarantee will make the playoffs this season and has a real shot to return to the big stage.
