The Detroit Lions play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars in a week three match up on Friday night.
The Jacksonville Jaguars dropped a 20-19 road decision to the Chicago Bears in week two that saw their record fall to 1-1. Even though this was a preseason tilt the Jaguars let one slip through their fingers as a 19-7 lead heading in to the fourth quarter still wasn't enough. The news wasn't all bad as the Jags first team played better then the Bears starters with a 16-7 lead at the break. Especially heartening was the play of Blake Bortles who threw for 160 yards with Chad Henne tossing for another 130 yards and a touchdown. Jacksonville was 1-3 in the red zone and were kicking field goals instead of PAT's.

The Detroit Lions offense saw a nice rebound from a poor opening day performance albeit a losing one in a 27-26 loss at Oakland. The first team offense and quarterback and Matthew Stafford looked in midseason form with a pair of touchdown sstrikes for a 13-0 first quarter lead. Dan Orlovsky was solid as well with 153 yards but in the end the Lions could not run the ball and the defense didn't stop the pass with the Raiders connecting on five throws of over 20 yards and enjoying five trips in to the red zone. Overall Oakland totaled nearly 400 yards while Detroit amassed 331 yards.
Stafford and the Lions have the offensive edge here but the question is how long do any starters play. I think Detroit wins but I need to see how large the spread is before taking a shot at this. I expected the Lions to be a bit a little bigger fave but I'll just take the field goal for now...
