The Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals play Sunday night preseason football at U of Phoenix Stadium.
The Cincinnati Bengals are 0-2 in preseason football with their most recent loss coming against the New York Jets, 25-17. Andy Dalton was flawless in limited action, completing all eight of his passes for 144 yards and a touchdown. The Bengals didn’t get much from their quarterbacks behind Dalton, but it’s good to know their starter seems to be in regular season mode. Another Cincy player who is making noise early in the preseason is A.J. Green, who caught three passes for 69 yards against the Jets. Overall, the Cincinnati Bengals racked up 298 yards and turned the ball over three times. Defensively, the Bengals allowed 343 yards and allowed the Jets to score on all three red zone trips. R.J. Stanford led the Bengals with four tackles and Terence Newman had an interception.
USA TODAY Sports
The Arizona Cardinals drop to 1-1 after losing 30-28 to the Minnesota Vikings. Carson Palmer threw for 91 yards on eight pass attempts, while Ryan Lindley saw the bulk of the action with 15 passes for 64 yards. Jaron Brown provided the Cardinals with two big plays, as he had 86 receiving yards on just two catches. The Cards averaged 2.8 yards per carry and Robert Hughes led the way with 26 yards and a touchdown. Overall, the Arizona Cardinals had 320 yards and scored a touchdown in each quarter. Defensively, the Cardinals allowed 439 yards and kept the Viking 2-5 in the red zone. Deone Bucannon led the Cardinals with five tackles, while Justin Renfrow had the team’s lone sack.
I like the Arizona Cardinals to get the win and cover at home. The Cards are deeper at the quarterback position and have younger players eager to make a roster spot. The Bengals have looked somewhat flat in the preseason and that shouldn't change here.
