We’ve got just one more day to wait in the short 48-hour time period between NFL games, and the anticipation is growing heavy. The bulk of the Week 2 games will be upon us tomorrow, and there’s a lot to look forward to. With that in mind, let’s take our daily look around the league and see which players are making headlines out there right now.

Steve Smith Outlook: Now that we’ve had a full day to digest the Ravens’ 26-6 trouncing of their division rival Pittsburgh Steelers, let’s take a moment to look at Baltimore’s veteran WR Steve Smith and his impact so far on the team.
Smith, who is a 14-year pro, got 10 targets his way during Thursday’s game. He caught six of those, turning them into 71 yards. Also, in an impact that doesn’t necessarily show up on the stat sheet, he drew a trio of penalties on Steelers players which helped keep his offense’s drives alive.
Smith has emerged as Joe Flacco’s go-to guy over these first couple of games (25 targets), which is a direct result of other teams’ attention toward Torrey Smith on the other side. The Ravens needed a second option there, and Smith is filling the gap nicely.
All eyes will be on him in Week 4 when he takes on his former team the Carolina Panthers. That’ll be must-see television.

Gordon Suspension: Here’s a bombshell that emerged yesterday: Browns uber-WR Josh Gordon, who is currently serving a one-year suspension for his third violation of the league’s substance abuse policy, will be getting his sentence reduced to 10 games under the NFL’s new deal with the players’ association. He’ll be just one of a handful of players who will see their suspensions reduced along the new guidelines, assuming this deal gets ratified.
This news should be music to the ears of Browns fans and fantasy owners alike.

Dolphins No. 1 WR Mike Wallace was limited in yesterday’s practice session, as he’s been each day this week. That said, the general feeling seems to be that he’ll suit up tomorrow against the Bills. He’s considered probable.

Washington Redskins LB Brian Orakpo got through a full practice yesterday, but is still listed as questionable on the injury report. He’s dealing with an ankle injury, and there’s nothing set in stone about his status for tomorrow’s game against the Jaguars.

NFL Week 2 Schedule: With Week 1 in the books, it’s time to start looking forward to Week 2. We’ve got plenty of interesting matchups on tap for the second round of games, so here’s a look at the complete schedule, along with the start times and TV networks you can catch the action on.
