The Line: Oakland Raiders +3 -- Over/Under: 39 See the Latest Odds

The Houston Texans take their act on the road when they travel to play the Oakland Raiders at the O.co Coliseum.

The Houston Texans won their first game in what feels like forever by defeating the Washington Redskins, 17-6. While the victory must have felt good, the Houston Texans are now without star defender Jadeveon Clowney, who had surgery and will be out for four to six weeks. The bright side for the Texans is that Ryan Fitzpatrick did a great job of managing the game with 206 yards and a touchdown, while Arian Foster rushed for 100 yards, giving Houston a balanced offensive attack. Andre Johnson also looked like the receiver of old, racking up 93 yards on six receptions. Overall, the Houston Texans were 7-14 on third down and averaged 5.6 yards per play. Defensively, the Texans allowed 372 yards and 3-12 on third down. Johnathan Joseph led the Texans with 11 tackles and J.J. Watt had two tackles for loss.

Oakland Raiders vs. Houston Texans - 9/14/14 NFL Pick and Odds

The Oakland Raiders lost a heartbreaker in a 19-14 road loss to the New York Jets. Despite forcing two turnovers and allowing just two touchdowns, the Raiders couldn’t make enough plays to get the job done. Rookie quarterback Derek Carr looked solid in his first start, completing 62.5 percent of his passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns, but the Raiders averaged just 1.7 yards on the ground. Darren McFadden was the Raiders leading rusher with 15 yards on four carries, which is simply inexcusable. The Oakland Raiders finished the game with only 148 yards and scored one of their two touchdowns in garbage time. Defensively, the Raiders allowed 402 yards and 5-12 on third down. Sio Moore led Oakland with 11 solo tackles and rookie Khalil Mack had two tackles for loss.

Despite the performances from both teams, winning in Oakland is still one of the tougher things to do in the NFL. And to the Raiders credit, it’s never easy to win when traveling across the country.

I like Oakland to get the SU win here, but I’ll gladly take the free field goal just to be safe.
