NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Schedule and More
September 17, 2014
It’s Wednesday, which means we’ve got just one more day to wait until Week 3 begins in the NFL. In the meantime, there’s plenty to talk about, so let’s take our daily look around the league and check in on some of the notable players out there. Here’s the latest.
Pats receiver Julian Edelman has emerged as Tom Brady’s go-to guy through the first two weeks of the season. Edelman is responsible for over 44 percent of Brady’s pass yards, catching 12 of 15 targets for 27 percent of the completions overall.
Thus far, Edelman has 176 receiving yards and 30 more on the ground. We’ll see if he can maintain this clip all season.

The Dolphins running game is in a state of flux right now, thanks to injuries. With Knowshon Moreno out this week and Lamar Miller a big question mark, the team may end up going with Damien Williams and Orleans Darkwa, who are both undrafted rookies.
The Phins will welcome the Chiefs to South Beach on Sunday.
Is there any significance to Marques Colston’s disappearing act on Sunday? Not according to Sean Payton. He brushed off questions about Colston’s involvement, saying that the team had a lot of weapons on offense and that individual performances would fluctuate from game to game.
Colston had zero catches during the Week 2 loss against Cleveland and played on 41 snaps. He was on the field for 64 snaps in Week 1.
Bears uber-WR Alshon Jeffery got through his team’s Sunday night win without suffering any setbacks on his injured hamstring, which is just about the most that the Bears could have hoped for. Both he and fellow WR Brandon Marshall were questionable coming into the game, but both played.
If both Jeffery and Marshall are healthy coming into the Bears’ second primetime game in a row in Week 3--a Monday night matchup against the Jets--we could see some huge numbers for both of them against New York’s depleted secondary.
