NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Schedule and More
September 25, 2014
It’s Thursday (already?), which means it’s officially time to kick off Week 4 in the NFL (already?). While we’re waiting on tonight’s game to get going, let’s take a look at some of the notable storylines out there and see who’s making headlines around the league. Here’s the latest.
It looks like Rod Streater will be out for a while. The Raiders WR’s agent reported yesterday that he needs foot surgery.
The procedure is said to be minor, but Streater is still expected to miss around 4-5 weeks at a minimum. We’ll keep you posted on his recovery.

Redskins TE Niles Paul will be a guy to watch tonight when his team goes up against the Giants. He’ll once again be taking the place of No. 1 tight end Jordan Reed, who was ruled out earlier in the week due to his hamstring injury.
So far this season, Paul has 18 grabs for 253 yards and has shown some nice chemistry with new QB Kirk Cousins. We’ll see if he can continue that trend against the Redskins’ division rivals.
The Colts’ big-play wide receiver T.Y. Hilton was able to practice yesterday, which is a good sign for his health moving forward. He suffered an ankle injury during last week’s game against the Jaguars.
So far, things are looking promising for Hilton’s status against the Titans at home on Sunday.
There’s been quite a bit of controversy down in South Beach over whether or not Ryan Tannehill will get the start on Sunday against Oakland in London. Miami head coach Joe Philbin has been pretty evasive when approached about who will be under center, and Tannehill’s performances over the first few games of the season haven’t done much to warrant confidence. It’ll be a situation to watch as the game draws closer.
In other AFC East news, Bills QB EJ Manuel was able to practice in full yesterday. He’s been fighting off an abdominal injury, so that’s a good sign for the youngster as he heads to Houston for Week 4.
Meanwhile, Jets No 1 wide receiver Eric Decker missed out on practice--which isn’t much of a surprise--after he aggravated his hamstring injury against the Bears on Monday. New York hosts Detroit Sunday.
