Seattle Seahawks (2-1) at Washington Redskins (1-3)

NFL Football: Monday, October 6, 2014 at 8:30 pm (FedExField)

The Line: Washington Redskins +7.5 -- Over/Under: 45 See the Latest Odds

The Seattle Seahawks will travel to FedEx Field for Monday night football.

The Seattle Seahawks have had an extra week to prepare for this game and put their thrilling victory over the Denver Broncos behind them. So far the Seahawks are exactly what we thought they were going to be, a power running team that plays great defense. Marshawn Lynch leads the way with 234 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while the Seahawks defense is sixth in the league allowing 321.3 yards per game. Russell Wilson continues to get better, as he’s completing 69 percent of his passes for six touchdowns and one interception. The Seahawks are 10-2 SU since last season when Wilson throws for at least two touchdowns. The Seahawks also have to be thrilled that Percy Harvin is healthy, as he leads Seattle with 106 receiving yards on 15 receptions. Defensively, the Seattle Seahawks have also forced three turnovers and five sacks. Bobby Wagner leads the Seahawks with 35 tackles and Byron Maxwell has three pass deflections and an interception. There doesn’t appear to be a Super Bowl hangover with Pete Carrolls squad.

The Washington Redskins have had a week and a half to figure out what went wrong against the New York Giants last Thursday. All of a sudden, the Redskins have allowed 82 points in their last two games, which is a drastic drop off from how the season started. Still, Washington is eighth in the league with an average of 324.3 yards allowed per game. Kirk Cousins has thrown five interceptions in his last two games, and the Redskins have lost six straight when he’s thrown at least one pick. In hopes of getting the offense back on track, expect Alfred Morris to get the ball early and often, as he’s been the teams security blanket and leads the Redskins with 316 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, the Washington Redskins have forced four turnovers and 11 sacks. Keenan Robinson leads the Redskins with 30 tackles and Jason Hatcher has 2.5 sacks.

The Seahawks are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 Monday games and 37-16-1 ATS in their last 54 games overall. The Redskins are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 Monday games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in Week 5. Seahawks are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings, while the favorite is 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.

While the Seahawks should win, I simply can’t leave these points on the table. The Washington Redskins are at home and are coming off two disappointing losses and need to bounce back in a big way. FedEx Field is sure to be a madhouse for this matchup, and I usually fade teams that are traveling a great distance. Even though Seattle may win, I like the Redskins to keep it close until the very end.
