With eight weeks in the books, here is how each NFL team stacks up in the 2014 power rankings.

1. Denver Broncos - The Denver Broncos are finally a lot more than the Peyton Manning show with a run-defense that’s the best in the league and Ronnie Hillman, who has topped 100 rushing yards in two of his last three games.

2. New England Patriots - The blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs seems like a decade ago. The New England Patriots are simply toying with teams right now and have a statement game this week against the Denver Broncos.

3. Detroit Lions - The Detroit Lions are winning without Calvin Johnson and have the best defense in the league. It’s about time somebody gives the Lions some credit.

4. Arizona Cardinals - The Arizona Cardinals picked up their marquee win over the Philadelphia Eagles and have a chance to keep moving up with a win over the Dallas Cowboys this week.

5. Dallas Cowboys - Speaking of the Dallas Cowboys, a loss to the Washington Redskins is flat out ugly. However, Dallas should get the benefit of the doubt considering Tony Romo missed much of the game.

6. Green Bay Packers - The Green Bay Packers played just one half of solid football against the New Orleans Saints once Aaron Rodgers looked hurt. Still, the Packers have earned their stripes over the last several weeks as one of the best teams in the NFL.

7. Philadelphia Eagles - I’m starting to lose a little bit of faith in the Philadelphia Eagles, especially considering they have just one impressive win all year. Chip Kelly and his guys need to get it together.

8. Indianapolis Colts - Not sure what in the world happened to the Indianapolis Colts against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This week’s game against the New York Giants will show us if the Colts are resilient enough to really be a Super Bowl contender.

9. Cincinnati Bengals - The Cincinnati Bengals finally played the way they did in the beginning of the season by beating the Baltimore Ravens. Cincy can now pad its record against the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars.

10. Baltimore Ravens - Getting swept by the Cincinnati Bengals doesn’t look good, but the Baltimore Ravens have been one of the more consistent teams this season and was a flag away from winning last week.

11. Seattle Seahawks - The Seattle Seahawks are quickly becoming the Indiana Pacers of the NFL. What in the world has happened? Still, it’s hard for me to say the Seahawks still aren’t one of the better teams in the league.

12. San Diego Chargers - Back-to-back losses aren’t good for the San Diego Chargers, a team that some said was a SB threat a few weeks ago. This week’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins will be interesting.

13. Kansas City Chiefs - The Kansas City Chiefs are slowly starting to find their groove with wins in four of their last five games. Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis have formed a scary RB tandem.

14. New Orleans Saints - The New Orleans Saints were a point away from beating the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers in back-to-back weeks. The Saints now have to finally win on the road this week for them to be considered “back.”

15. San Francisco 49ers - The last time we saw the San Francisco 49ers, they were getting their heads beaten in by the Denver Broncos. With some injured players back, it’s put up or shut up time for the 49ers.

16. Miami Dolphins - The Miami Dolphins have quietly won three of their last four games and are back in the AFC East hunt. A win this week over the San Diego Chargers will have Dolphins fans chanting playoffs.

17. Pittsburgh Steelers - With the comeback win over the Houston Texans and the trashing of the Indianapolis Colts, the Pittsburgh Steelers are starting to look like the team of old. A win over the Baltimore Ravens will have the rest of the world convinced.

18. Buffalo Bills - The Buffalo Bills are playing with more energy under QB Kyle Orton and have won three of their last four games. The Bills are one of many teams in the AFC that could sneak into the playoffs.

19. Houston Texans -  The Houston Texans are a few bad breaks away from having a decent record. It feels like this week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles is a make or break game for the Texans.

20. New York Giants - Speaking of make or break games, the New York Giants better show up against the Indianapolis Colts or their season is all but over.

21. Carolina Panthers - The Carolina Panthers hung in tough with the Seattle Seahawks but are forced to continue settling for moral victories. Somehow still in first in the NFC South, Thursday’s game against New Orleans is massively important.

22. Cleveland Browns - The Cleveland Browns are still in the thick of the AFC North race with wins in three of their last four games. Cleveland has something besides LeBron to be happy about.

23. Chicago Bears - There’s really no excuse for a team as talented as the Chicago Bears to be where they’re at. A bye week couldn’t have come at a better time, but I get the feeling the Bears season is already too late to save.

24. Washington Redskins - Whether the Dallas Cowboys had Tony Romo or not, the Washington Redskins won in Jerry’s World with Colt McCoy. Do I really need to say anymore?

25. Minnesota Vikings - The Minnesota Vikings were finally on the winning side of a close and competitive game. The Vikings now hope to string together back-to-back wins for the first time since the end of 2012.

26. Atlanta Falcons - I wonder what the Atlanta Falcon are going to do during their bye week. Firing head coach Mike Smith would be a great start.

27. St. Louis Rams - The win over the Seattle Seahawks a couple of weeks ago was cute, but now the St. Louis Rams come back to reality with a brutal schedule that may prevent this team from winning a game all month.

28. Tennessee Titans - I think it’s safe to say that the Tennessee Titans will be drafting a quarterback this year once this nightmare is over.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars - The Jacksonville Jaguars have a ton of young talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Unfortunately, it’s going to take time for that youth to mature. Keep your heads up Jacksonville fans.

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - How many times has Lovie Smith regretted taking this job? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had a brutal first half of the season.

31. New York Jets - It’s pretty safe to say that the New York Jets are going to experience a complete makeover once the season is finished.

32. Oakland Raiders - The Oakland Raiders have not won a game since Nov. 17th of last year. With the Seattle Seahawks up next, I’ll be able to say the same thing next week.

So, you give Dallas a pass because they lost their #1 quarterback for part of a game against Washington. But, you rank AZ at #4 when in the ONLY game it lost (Broncos at Denver's home) the #1 quarterback did not play at all, the #2 quarterback went out midway with a concussion (AZ only down by 4 pts) and the #3 quarterback finished the game for a loss. Plus AZ has had a tough schedule, beating the Chargers, 49ers, Eagles (not to mention, Redskins, Giants and Raiders).
