The San Francisco 49ers have had a bye week to nurse some of their injuries and hope to win their third straight home game. The 49ers are being led by their defense that’s allowed 23.6 points, 306 yards, and has forced 12 sacks and 11 turnovers. The 49ers have allowed 24 or less points in 18 of their last 20 games. Patrick Willis is still questionable with a toe injury, Antoine Bethea leads the 49ers with 37 tackles and Justin Smith has three sacks. Offensively, Colin Kaepernick is completing 63.8 percent of his passes for 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. In his last two games, Kaepernick has four touchdowns and one pick, as he’s starting to play a little better than the beginning of the season. Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree have combined for more than 700 receiving yards and four touchdowns, as the 49ers have 27 passing plays of 20 or more yards. Frank Gore leads the 49ers ground game that’s averaging 4.2 yards per carry with 423 yards on the season.
The Rams are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The 49ers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games in Week 9 and 6-2 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. The Rams are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 meetings in San Francisco.
I usually hate laying a big number in the NFL, but this is a huge mismatch. The Rams have little consistency on either side of the ball and are banged up on the offensive line. The 49ers are coming off of a bye and have the defense to hold the Rams nearly scoreless in this game. This is one of the few times I’m going to lay the big number, as I don’t see how the Rams are going to keep this thing close.
