The Washington Redskins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face off on Sunday at FedEx Field for a week 11 NFL matchup of disappointing NFC teams.
The Washington Redskins sit at 3-6 and while they have done so many things well, it hasn’t been enough to produce wins. The Redskins offense is averaging 21.9 points and 386.9 yards per game and just haven’t been consistent. Robert Griffin III is healthy once again as he tried to regain the confidence of the Redskins fan base and he has completed 72.1 percent of his passes with one touchdown and one interception. Alfred Morris anchors the Washington rushing attack with 605 yards and Pierre Garcon is the Redskins leading receiver with 42 catches and three touchdowns while DeSean Jackson has been the deep threat with 36 catches and four touchdowns. Defensively the Redskins are allowing 25.4 points and 333.3 yards per game but they are minus nine in turnover ratio. Keenan Robinson has 76 tackles, Ryan Kerrigan has 7.5 sacks, and Ryan Clark has 52 tackles. The Redskins have work to do if they want to be a contender in the NFC East.

It has been a disastrous season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as it appears they are going to need to move backwards before they move forward. The Tampa Bay offense has been ineffective no matter who has been the QB and right now it is Josh McCown who has completed 63.1 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and six interceptions. Bobby Rainey is Tampa Bay’s leading rusher with 368 yards and he has 27 catches and Vincent Jackson is the Buccaneers leading receiver with 40 receptions and Mike Evans has 39 catches and five touchdowns. The Buccaneers defense is one of he worst in the NFL allowing a 31st ranked 30.2 points and a 29th ranked 391.2 yards. LaVonte David has 103 tackles, Alterraun Verner has 46 tackles, and Gerald McCoy has 5.0 sacks. The Bucs are looking for answers but they are playing for next season at this point.
Washington is 3-7 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 1-4 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 1-9 against the spread against the NFC. Tampa Bay is 2-6 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 3-9 against the spread in their last 12 games, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a losing record. The underdog is 4-1-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings of these two.
This one figures to be close and with two bad teams expect the ball to be on the ground plenty or at least headed the other way often so getting seven points to start with seems like a nice place to be.
