NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 14 Schedule and More
December 2, 2014
Now that Week 13 in the NFL is all wrapped up, it’s time to start looking ahead to Week 14. In the meantime, there’s plenty to talk about after a long weekend of football, so with that in mind let’s take a quick look at today’s headlines and hot-topic players in our morning analysis.
MNF Wrap-Up: Last night’s AFC East battle between the Dolphins and the Jets was probably boring to non-fans, and frustrating to backers of Miami and New York. The Dolphins took the win here 16-13 on the strength of three field goals from kicker Caleb Sturgis, but the real story was the Jets’ inability to do anything but run the football.
New York racked up 277 yards on the ground, but attempted just 13 passes, a stat which boggles the mind when you consider that their No. 1 receiver Eric Decker was one-on-one with a rookie corner all night long.
The Jets also dropped a pair of easy interceptions on defense in a performance that was otherwise pretty dominant over Miami. They fall to 2-10 while the Phins remain in the playoff picture with a host of other AFC squads.

Let’s check on a few health concerns the Falcons have heading into Week 14. First and foremost, there’s WR Roddy White, who was declared inactive against the Cardinals due to a sprained ankle. The Atlanta coaching staff is anticipating he’ll be ready to go on Sunday against the Packers.
Also, DT Paul Soliai and CB Robert Alford are both expected to be back at practice on Thursday.
The Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald is trying to get over an MCL sprain. He was hurt in Week 11 and has missed the two games since. That said, he’s expected to return to practice tomorrow.
In a similar situation, RB Andre Ellington is expected to be absent from tomorrow’s practice. He’s dealing with a hip pointer and so far there’s no concrete timeline for his return in place.
The Redskins’ DeSean Jackson suffered a lower-leg contusion during Week 13, but the coaching staff expects him to be okay going forward. Whether or not that means he’ll be available for this weekend remains to be seen, but the expectation is that he‘ll play. Jackson has 47 grabs for 942 yards and five scores so far.
Carolina’s DeAngelo Williams suffered a broken finger (right middle) this past weekend. That sounds pretty bad, but if the swelling goes down he does have a chance to play in Week 14.
