NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 14 Schedule and More
December 3, 2014
We’ve got just one more day to wait until the official start of the NFL’s Week 14, and it’s sure to be an exciting round of games. There are lots of heated playoff races going on around the league, and several look like they’ll go down to the wire. That said, let’s take our daily look at some of the headlines and see who’s in the news.
Even though Raiders QB Derek Carr got yanked late in the 52-0 drubbing Week 13 against the Rams, the Oakland coaching staff sounds like they’re going to be moving forward with him in Week 14 against the 49ers.
Vet Matt Schaub took over for Carr against St. Louis, but as of right now it looks like he’ll remain the backup.

The Bears’ Robbie Gould had to sit out yesterday’s practice due to soreness in his quad. Normally, that wouldn’t be such a big deal, but the Bears play tomorrow against the Cowboys, and there may be an emergency kicking situation if Gould can’t go.
Pat O’Donnell, who is the team’s punter, would likely do the placekicking and short field goal tries in Gould’s absence.
Although we don’t have any concrete information on Dolphins WR Brian Hartline’s knee injury just yet, it’s believed that his status isn’t thought to be serious.
The Dolphins will take on Baltimore in a crucial game in the Wild Card standings this weekend.
The Colts’ Dwayne Allen has been out for the past two games due to an ankle injury, but there have been some indications that he’ll be back in action this weekend. The team waived fellow TE Weslye Saunders yesterday, which would indicate they think Allen will be good to go for Cleveland.
If he does indeed play, Allen will suck up some of the targets that have been going to Coby Fleener the past couple of games.
In other Bears news, uber-WR Alshon Jeffrey sat out the team’s practice session yesterday due to a hamstring issue. He had been limited in Monday’s practice.
Though that might cause Bears fans and fantasy owners to panic, the coaching staff maintains that Jeffrey’s absence was a precautionary one. He’s the top dog on the team with 67 catches for 854 yards and seven touchdowns--second only to Brandon Marshall (8) in scoring.
