Top Ten Worst NFL Injuries (Week 14 Edition)t

A Look at the Worst NFL Injuries of Week 14

2014 NFL Season

See the Latest Odds

As the regular season winds down (depressing though it is), injuries key players who are potentially playoff bound become increasingly important. There were a couple of those in Week 14. We’ll take a look at the top ten worst injuries occurred this weekend in the NFL this morning. Tuesday per usual around here, y’all.

Top Ten Worst NFL Injuries (Week 14 Edition)t

1. Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy left Monday night’s win over the Atlanta Falcons with a hip injury in the fourth quarter. Lacy has been a force to be reckoned with for most of the season and with the Pack likely headed to the postseason, let’s hope he’s back to fighting form sooner rather than later.

2. Speaking of the Falcons, their best receiver (sorry Roddy White), Julio Jones, also left last night’s contest with a hip injury late in the game. Jones, who finished the game with an 11-259-1 receiving line, wouldn’t comment on his injury, but fans in the ATL better be hoping it’s nothing serious.

3. In yet more Falcons news (last night was not a good one for their receiving corps), the aforementioned wideout Roddy White was also sidelined with an ankle injury after amassing 42 yards and a TD.

4. Tennessee Titans QB Zach Mettenberger exited Sunday’s pummeling by the New York Giants with a shoulder injury. Mettenberger will miss the remainder of the season. Now Ken Whisenhunt and Co. just have to decide if the former LSU Tiger is their man going forward or not. Decisions, decisions in Tennessee.

5. The Houston Texans lost WR Andre Johnson to a concussion on Sunday. Johnson is currently listed as day-to-day, but if he passes the concussion protocol, there’s no reason he shouldn’t start on Sunday against the Colts. Yay. Note my sarcasm.

6. Baltimore Ravens WR Torrey Smith is day-to-day with a knee sprain that limited him to just 15 snaps during Sunday’s match-up against the Miami Dolphins. Smith, fortunately, just sprained his knee and didn’t tear any ligaments. This is good news for a Ravens squad that is currently in the thick of the tough AFC North playoff race.

7. The Ravens also lost Danny Gorrer, their fourth CB of the year on Sunday. The official word is that Gorrer tore ligaments in his knee and will require surgery. Next man up. Again.

8. The Washington Redskins lost QB Colt McCoyy to a neck sprain during Sunday’s contest. Since nobody really knows what’s happening at the QB position in DC, it’s hard to tell if this is actually awful news or not. According to Gruden, RGIII will start on Sunday if McCoy is unable to. Such a debacle.

9. Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles found himself with both a knee injury and an ankle injury after losing to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The severity of Charles’s injuries haven’t been disclosed, but hopefully he won’t miss much time. He’s a necessity in KC.

10. As if the Buccaneers haven’t struggled enough this season, they’ve now lost LB Lavonte David to a head injury. David is being evaluated for a concussion and may or may not return for Week 15 action.
