NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 15 Schedule and More
December 13, 2014
We’ve got just one more day to wait before the rest of the NFL’s Week 15 games get going, and with each passing hour the excitement ramps up even more. There are plenty of interesting playoff scenarios happening all across the league, and it’ll be must-see television from here on out. Let’s take a look at today’s news.
The Cardinals got a bit of good news on the injury front yesterday--and they really need it at this point. QB Drew Stanton has no ligament damage in his injured knee, sustained on Thursday against the Rams.
Still, there’s no guarantee Stanton will be able to take the field in Week 16. The only good news here is that he’s got some extra time to rest--and that the Cardinals have all but clinched a playoff spot.

As expected, QB Cam Newton from the Panthers was officially ruled out for this week’s game against the Buccaneers. In a related situation, RB DeAngelo Williams is doubtful for the game with a hand injury. Aside from those two and guard Amini Silatolu (out), the rest of the team’s injury report is filled with probable designations.
It’ll be interesting to see how Giants running backs Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams split up the carries this weekend against the Redskins. According to reports, Jennings will have a lower workload than usual due to him still being bothered by the injury.
Both backs are pretty similar statistically this season: Jennings has 603 yards and four scores on 156 carries; Williams has 158 carries for 524 yards and six scores.
The Steelers are fighting for their playoff lives in a skin-tight AFC North this week. They’ve also got a couple of big defensive names on their injury report. CB Ike Taylor is doubtful for tomorrow’s game against the Falcons; he’s got a forearm injury.
Also, LB James Harrison is questionable. He missed out on last weeks’ game with a knee injury.
The Redskins’ DeSean Jackson has been deemed questionable for the Giants game, giving him coin-flip odds on taking the field. He’s got a shin injury to deal with.
The Chargers’ Ryan Mathews was not able to practice yesterday, thanks to his ankle injury. He’s been sidelined all week.
