Top Ten Worst NFL Injuries (Week 15 Edition)

A Look at the Worst NFL Injuries of Week 15

2014 NFL Season

TV:

Tuesday again, y’all, which means it’s time for Week 15’s injury report. Hard to believe we’re almost through the regular season, but at least we’ve got another month of play-offs coming up. Phew. Some of the teams in the league, though, are probably pretty glad the off-season is approaching. Battered and bruised doesn’t begin to describe what a few clubs have dealt with this year.

Top Ten Worst NFL Injuries (Week 15 Edition)

USA TODAY Sports

1. The Dallas Cowboys lost phenom RB DeMarco Murray to a broken left hand in Sunday night’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Murray underwent surgery yesterday and, while it isn’t the most likely scenario, could see action this week against the Indianapolis Colts. From a purely selfish standpoint, I hope Murray is sidelined just this one game.

2. WR T.Y. Hilton, one of the stars of the Indianapolis Colts’ receiving corps, was sidelined during the final moments of Sunday’s win over the Houston Texans with a hamstring issue. Hilton’s Monday MRI came back negative (thank goodness) and he’s planning to practice this week and be active for Week 16.

3. San Francisco 49ers’ RB Frank Gore exited Sunday’s loss to the hot Seattle Seahawks with a concussion during the first half. Gore will have to pass the league’s mandated concussion protocol if he wants to play this week. With the Niners out of play-off contention, though, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Carlos Hyde starting at the position on Saturday.

4. Rashad Jennings, RB for the New York Giants, dealt with an ankle injury earlier this season, as some of you may recall. Jennings re-aggravated the issue on Sunday and his status for Week 16 is currently questionable. I’m expecting Andre Williams to be the starter, personally.

5. The San Diego Chargers didn’t have the greatest Week 15 in history. They sacrificed the NFC West title to the Denver Broncos and may’ve lost Keenan Allen in the process. Allen, the club’s best wideout, left the game with an ankle injury. No word yet no the severity of the problem, but it didn’t look good on Sunday.

6. Houston Texans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was carted off the field on Sunday with a broken leg. Fitzpatrick’s season is, rather obviously, over. The team resorted to 3rd stringer Tom Savage against the Colts, but have already re-signed Case Keenum ahead of Week 16. The Houston QB debacle continues. At least Fitzpatrick can fall back on his Har-vahd education.

7. San Francisco 49ers’ LB Chris Borland tallied 6 tackles against the Seahawks on Sunday before leaving the game with an ankle injury. No word yet on his status for Week 16.

8. Washington Redskins’ RB Alfred Morris suffered a groin injury during Sunday’s loss to Eli Manning and Co. Morris was limited after the half and is currently listed as questionable for this week’s match-up, though I’d venture to say he’ll play.

9. In other ‘Skins’ news, the team lost QB Colt McCoy to an exacerbated neck injury on Sunday. RGIII entered the game in his stead and is expected to start come Sunday.

10. If you haven’t heard about Carolina Panthers’ QB Cam Newton's broken back by now, you’ve probably been living under a rock. Newton was not active during Week 15, but could return for Week 16 action. The decision is dependent upon how he looks in practice this week.
