We’ve got a couple more days to wait before the NFL’s Week 17 games get going, but in the meantime there’s plenty to talk about when it comes to storylines around the league. With that in mind, let’s check out some of the notable happenings out there and see what everyone’s up to.

One of the big questions dogging the Cardinals this week will be the quarterback play of rookie Logan Thomas. According to all the information coming out of Arizona, there aren’t any concrete plans as far as how long he’ll play. That would seem to indicate that the team is resigned to their playoff position and will take their chances when Drew Stanton is ready to come back for the postseason.
Behind Thomas, the Cardinals only have Ryan Lindley, who has no touchdowns in 225 pass attempts over his career. Thomas doesn’t inspire much more confidence, as he’s only completed 1 of 9--the one completion was an 81-yard score, however. The Cardinals visit San Francisco this week. They would need to win here and have Seattle lose to the Rams to clinch a division title.

Speaking of the Seahawks, they’ve got an issue with wide receiver Jermaine Kearse heading into this week’s game. Kearse had to sit out of practice on Wednesday, and also would have sat out yesterday had the team been in session.
Kearse is nursing a sore hamstring and isn’t looking too good for the Rams game right now. If he sits, expect Paul Richardson--who is a rookie--to get the chance to show his stuff.

The Panthers’ DeAngelo Williams has missed out on the past three games due to a hand injury. The good news for the Panthers is that he seems ready to return to action on Sunday against the Falcons.
That said, fellow RB Jonathan Stewart has been doing very well in Williams’ absence and will remain the team’s starter.
Carolina goes into Atlanta as an underdog this Sunday. The winner will head to the playoffs as the division champ; the loser will have to watch from the couch.

The Colts coaching staff is “hopeful” that dynamic wide receiver T.Y. Hilton will be able to play on Sunday in Tennessee. Hilton is dealing with a hamstring injury that caused him to miss the Week 16 blowout in Dallas. That was the only game he’s missed so far this year.
Hilton has 82 grabs for 1,345 yards this year with seven touchdowns.
