TV: FOX

The Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers square off Sunday afternoon at Levi's Stadium.

The Arizona Cardinals have split their last four games and have an outside shot of winning the NFC West. Rookie Logan Thomas is going to make his first start, and he’s thrown just nine passes this season. Ryan Lindley has been worse than expected, and the Cardinals have 51 passing plays of 20 or more yards. Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd have combined for more than 1,400 receiving yards and six touchdowns while John Brown has five receptions in his last two games. The Cardinals ground game is averaging 3.3 yards per carry, as Andre Ellington leads the way with 660 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, the Arizona Cardinals are allowing 18.6 points, 366.4 yards, and they’ve forced 34 sacks and 25 turnovers. Rashad Johnson leads Arizona with 89 tackles and Calais Campbell has seven sacks.

49ers vs. Cardinals - 12/28/14 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers have lost four straight and will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2010. Colin Kaepernick is completing 60.6 percent of his passes for 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Kaepernick has three total touchdowns and two picks in his last three games, and the 49ers have 46 passing plays of 20 or more yards. Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree have combined for more than 1,600 receiving yards and eight touchdowns while Bruce Miller has three receptions in his last two games. The 49ers ground game is averaging 4.5 yards per carry, as Frank Gore leads the way with 962 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, the San Francisco 49ers are allowing 21.5 points, 316.4 yards, and they’ve forced 34 sacks and 26 turnovers. Chris Borland leads the 49ers with 107 tackles and Perrish Cox has five interceptions.

The Cardinals are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and 16-6 ATS in their last 22 games overall. The 49ers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games and 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Cardinals are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings in San Francisco and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 meetings overall.

The 49ers could have easily won a couple of games this month if they didn't completely fall apart in the second half. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are a good team but have major issues at quarterback and are starting a rookie for the first time. I don't see a rookie having much success on the road against a solid and physical 49ers defense. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm taking the 49ers and the chalk, although I am a little worried with this pick. I don't trust San Fran that much either.
